Sorry fellas, there is a multi cultural festival in canberra this week, been enjoying the the sights, sounds, tastes and grogs of other lands. Selection made. The weekends are always generally slower due to social commitments, we're doing well though, expect by monday week, we'll be at round 18 ish

Very true. I had laptop with me for work - I was posting tongue in cheek as I was the hold up for the most part during the week pal ;-)

Sounds like a good festival mate, enjoy!

Was that seriously only five (5) picks in thirty six (36) hours?

I know shit happens, & sometimes people pick 10 minutes AFTER you leave for the day, but one pick every seven hours on a weekend is a bit rich. Shoots the whole "Weekend" theory to shit anyway.

In saying that, I admit to not having a viable solution so take this as a rant & not a shot at anyone!

I say we just keep going the way we are, and then knock over the rest on the Sunday before the season starts (the 26th) Hopefully by then we'll only have a few rounds to do

I was looking at the scoring we currently have for the comp. Not sure if it can be changed, but I do think it;s worthy of some discussion so we can get the best outcome to make this an enjoyable comp.

This is the current setup and highlighting what I think are problems with the scoring.

Competition Scoring

Try: 4
Goal: 2
Field Goal: 1
Workhorse: 4
Sin Bin: -2
Send Off: -4
Try Assist: 3
Line Break: 3
Line Break Assist: 0

Player Wins: 0
Player Losses: 0
Player Draws: 0
Captain: 2
Bench: 1

This is what I think it should be...

Competition Scoring
Try: 4
Goal: 2
Field Goal: 1
Workhorse: 4
Sin Bin: -2
Send Off: -6
Try Assist: 2
Line Break: 2
Line Break Assist: 1

Player Wins: 2
Player Losses: 0
Player Draws: 1
Captain: 2
Bench: 1 - though I did notice that the bench can be half points, which I think would make it even more interesting in selecting your starting squad.

What do others think?

As well...

Regular Season Recruitment Method: You snooze you lose

Is it possible to have a waiver wire setup? Given how much difficulty some have getting online at times (as indicated by this draft), it would be preferable to give everyone a chance at securing players, rather than those that have easier access to the internet. At least a 24hr waiver wire after the last game is finished would be great. EDIT: Seems this is not possible. Maybe an honesty system that no one can pick up players to say Tuesday at an agreed upon time ie 7pm AEST/AEDT?

Done. Cost us two hours in waiting for me. Not overly bad. I am adamant we just PICK A NIGHT and knock this out so we can look at trades etc.

2012 Rookie Of The Year Tautau Moga signed up earlier than expected I am predicting. BIG SEASON for this guy will see this is as a draft steal. Think Terrell Davis type pick up for the debutant Roosters. :D I couldn't risk leaving him on the board. This #1 pick is a curse. A LOT OF TALENT goes between picks.

While you raise some valid points dude, in my opinion its simply not fair to change a scoring system once the draft has started. Many (including myself) have drafted based on the scoring system, any change will advantage some and disadvantage others. Just my opinion, happy to go with the majority

Regarding waivers I completely agree, but the website doesn't support it.

i agree that those scoring methods are better but ultimately im with ab, people myself included have drafted for this scoring system

if the scoring where to change i feel it should be only with a 100% yes vote
i would vote yes, but would understand if some didnt.

as per the WW
it would be great, but i have same issues with an honesty system as we have now, we will never have a time that is agreeable for all of us.

We've just got to come to terms with the fact this is Fantasy NRL, not NFL and the australian sports fantasy industry has a long way to come before we can run it as tailored as we can in the NFL

The only way to get through this quicker would be to reduce the round time to four hours if possible and use auto select from your pre-selection list. Might not get the player you want but if you want to win, you'll make sure you get your pick in on time.

I dont think we're in any trouble.
This time next week, at this pace we will be at round 18-19.

Thats pretty good, thats when we should reduce the round limit and direct everyone to have their pre selections sorted

I think Dogs of War had an issue with the preselection list where it picked a player for him not on his list. Also the draft has only been going 7 days and we're into the 8th round. As I said by the 26th which is the last Sunday before the season starts, we should have it mostly completed, in which case we should try and organise to knock it over that night if possible

The scoring part for me is a bit swings & roundabouts. Either way isn't really a major game-changer. But I agree with the idea of not moving the goalposts now the game has started.

For what it's worth, I like a free-for-all recruitment. Get in & get players whenever you want/need. Kill or be killed!
