The NRL have announced the Queensland clubs will run a six week home and away U/20s competition. The competition will comprise of academy players and will serve as the first step towards a national U/20s competition.

That's interesting way to announce the Michael Waqa signing for the Broncos. He struggled to take the next step at the Dolphins but with so much talent coming through maybe he was squeezed out.

Otherwise, I like the move. I don't think the QRL had enough talent to support their own state-wide U/21 competition and at least in the absence of a national competition, this will allow clubs to better assess their talent and put things in place moving forward. I still think there's a place for a U/20s competition as it ensures that clubs maintain some level of depth.

No word as of yet whether it will be aired on QPlus.

Good to see NRL Queensland setting their junior professional pathways once again

In two years they will all be ready for a reserve grade too

Big comeback win for the Broncos.

Down 24-6 just after half-time, the forwards muscled up and paved the way for a 34-24 Broncos victory.

Prop Dirhys Sefo finished with a hat-trick.

Xavier Coates' younger brother, Phil, had a strong game in the backs for the Broncos.

Will Saunders has also joined the Broncos after playing for the Cronulla Sharks earlier in the season.
