My Thoughts

16s
1. John Fomai - Parra - Extremely elusive, always breaks first tackle, fast
2. Kaupulu Poleo - Dogs - Strong runner, aggressive, good finisher
3. Liam Knight - Manly big and very strong, solid defender
4. Dee Jay Harris - Illawarra strong fast prolific tryscorer kicks goals
5. Nayah Freeman - Penrith Very quick, good on feet, finishes well
6. Zac Clay - Parra great vision strong running game straightens attack well
7. Joey Lussick - Manly great kicking and passing game good organiser
8. Sinapati Solia - Wests strong mobile damaging runner with good defence
9. Ben Johns - Dogs crafty 9, great service, good running game
10. Salesi Funaki - Tigers beast, strong and fast
11.Tepai Moeroa - Parra punishing defence strong big and fast scores tries
12. Addin Fonua Blake - Souths strong and big good offload
13. Jack Bird - Illawarra all round game, ballplayer and strong runner
14. Tifa Iuta - Dogs SR/FR good on feet strong busts line
15. Tevita Pangai - Newcastle SR/FR strong and fast scores tries and damaging
16. Matt Lodge - Penrith Tireless worker, bends lines with strong runs and good defence
17. Brendan Cox - Dogs great utility can play 1-7 and 9. Good vision, speed and running game.

Not a massive fan of nayah great in attack but not so in defence. Although he is only one game back from injury 2 tries in the match and some very strong running would have me going for Sione f**kof**ka for the wing spot.

I couldn't agree with you more Half-Back! However today the Doggies coach moved f**ko-f**ka to to centre and moved that kid Morgan to wing. As I said before this Morgan kid came from rugby union and it was his first year in league before being picked for Matts. Today he scored two tries and one of them was similar to the way Inglis and Folau do it of the high bomb. In fact his nick name at the Dogs is "Inglis". His defence is awesome too, which is surprising considering he came from union. He seems like he would make a great utility coming off the bench. However from what I seen today that player Demetriou will have to be in the team!! That kid is a freakish talent. The breaks he made were out of this world. He will definately be in !

What are your thoughts?

Regards,
Tuc.

Steelers big winners again today against Central Coast.

Jack Bird very stong again and frontrower Abraham Atallah was great again definately going to create some selection headaches as he has been the best frontrower on the field again. Will be a great game them and the doggies in 2 weeks

Jeez after yesterdays effort (4 tries) you would certainly think so[/QUOTE] funny thing is he was playing in the centres, but I'm sure he prefers the halves but also looks to be good utility value! There's a good go for fullback with Gagan and Roberts in good form for their teams.

Too true 'LeaguesFan', the Steelers v Doggies will be match and a half. For me it will settle the selection of the 16's. At least in terms of the positions for 'Lock' (i.e. Bird v Demetriou), 'F/R (Semrani v Atallah).

In saying that the Doggies meet Manly next week and this for me will settle the half-back position with Lussick v Cox. I expect to see the names of those boys others have named however I believe certain Doggies players will make the 'Possibles' team/squad. They are by far the best team and have had the hardest draw this season!

Tuc.

You would think he would be good in the 6 in the NSW team but he is preferring playing in the centers at 20s level.

Do you think they could find a place for both Roberts and Gagan in NSW?

Tuc,

Have to agree with you them 2 match ups could possibly decide the outcome of that game and give us a fair indication of where the Steelers are at heading into the finals.

No David Nofoaluma?? Made the team last year a year young and is equal second on the try scorers list after another 2 on the weekend. Considering Wests lead the comp to only have Tedesco in 17 seems tough.

Sironen has the advantage of being the only five-eighth selected in Under-20s. As has Jack Wighton but he is playing centres.

Samisoni Langi has played halfback for Bulldogs NYC but is probably more of a five-eighth option. I put him at starting halfback in my team and he has played their this year for the Bulldogs, although i will be surprised if he is named at 7 as he hasn't played much halfback overall... might be a good bench option as he can cover a number of positions.

Of those in SG Ball Mitchell Brassington from Western Suburbs would be one of the first that comes to mind... but Wests Tigers have preferred Sironen. Alex Langbridge from Manly has been playing well and Jamie Stanley from St George and Zach Walsh from Souths could be in the mix.

Fair point about last years team but he hasn't progressed to Under-20s while others have, which makes it a bit hard to measure (although still very early in the season and i'm sure Nofoaluma and Tedesco will be there soon).

James Roberts is current leading tryscorer in NYC, Jack Wighton is equal second and Geordie Connelly and Jacob Gagan are equal 5th. On that form I think they are hard to go past. Vai Toutai was my fifth backline member and although not top of the tryscorers in NYC at this point, i've always been impressed.

Western Suburbs do have some good players, but they've had an easy draw so far with only 2 out of 7 games against top-8 sides, which has allowed them to rack up some big scores.

Nofoaluma and Tedesco have really matured this year following on from their Aus schoolboys tour. Both have scored 10 tries..I think.

Nofoaluma has been pretty quite the last couple of weeks but he returned to form on the weekend. We know he can fend off player after player but what impressed me most in the first few games this year is how hard he was hitting in defence. Has he learn't how to pass ?...No not yet..But his getting there.

With regards to Tedesco well unfortunatley or fortunately the kid can play any position in the backline as well as hooker..plus he can kick goals...so to have him on the bench might be a smart move.

Other Wests players with an outside chance....maybe second rower Shane Lalogafau

How have Tevita Pangai and Jeremy Ma'a being going for the knights? From what I've seen of them they look do much bigger than every else on the field in their respective grades

Nayah Freeman hasn't been selected this week for Penrith. Anyone know if he is injured? If so, how serious is it?

I don't know about that, im not sure if he qualifies or not, but pride peterson-robati plays lock for the storm sg ball team. Although they have'nt been going too well his form has held up pretty well against the older boys. The only thing is that he has just arrived from nz this year and i don't know if he qualifys for the game.

While both probably deserve a spot I dont agree that playing 20s should automatically gaurentee a NSW Jersey. I would have Wighton at the 6 over sironen, langi or brassington. Then would have to pick a specialist 7.
