Only reason Pearce should come in is to replace Cleary since Keary and Reynolds are both out.
No way should they both be in the halves together. If it ends up happening, why the f**k are both of them so immune to blame by the NSW staff yet Walker gets dropped after only one game where he got hooked halfway through?
walker was always the wrong selection for mine, and i'm a souths supporter. it was good for him to get some recognition of the way he's been playing, but a coach needs to look at why a player is playing so well and whether it will work in a different environment. perhaps if a reynolds or maloney was there, it would work but it doesn't with cleary. they're not game managers.
there was also a story that the left side (cordner-mitchell-tedesco) who play together at club and were in the squad last season said they'd work in with him rather than the other way around. well, you'd think that 3 roosters players would know how to play their game rather than have to learn Walker's in a week. in the end, that whole left side was a cluster f**k. and i don't think either NSW winger got the ball at the end of a back line move the way DCE & Munster got it out to QLD wingers, which highlights the lack of organisation from NSW halves in game 1.
for mine, Maloney is the key. don't worry about his form for the year. look at what he brings to the team. he's the guy to take advantage of the roll-on the forwards need to get. imagine him in the next phase of a cam murray quick play the ball, and a cook dart out of acting half? he's the guy to make the right decision with that opportunity.
