I believe that if there were an R rating the laws on importing would have to change aswell?

It doesn't bother me any more my business now goes offshore and Australian retailere don't get a cent from me, it's a shame it came to that though

Too true.

Its a shame that 11-12 year olds are subject to games like COD and GTA because parents think that their kid is "mature".

Thats the crux of the argument for me, not the fact that developers will go out of their way to make R rated games..... fact: some games are rated R in other countries and squeezed into MA15+ here.

the R rating issue continues to remain in a stalemate thanks to NSW Attorney General abstaining from voting...

personally I think its a joke that Adults should be punished because of childrens parents buying MA15+ games for their children...

http://theanonymousgamer.wordpress....y-r-why-are-we-debating-the-dreaded-r-rating/

I think its a joke that I could walk into any video store and purchase/rent porn, yet I can't walk into Eb games, Jb Hifi etc. and buy a game like Mortal Kombat because its a little to violent for some over sensitive people.

Big Tim - I agree, they shouldnt be subject to them at all but i think its more that parents dont realise that games are mature aged content in a mass majority of the cases.

To me its an educational issue more than anything... the generation that is fighting against videogaming has no idea what it actually is...

They still believe that it is a "Toy" and a childs medium and then are continually shocked that violence, sex, drug reference, adult themes etc are turning up in them...

and its not like it is something that has turned up overnight, its something that has been in video gaming since its inception.

The numbers dont lie and when a majority of gamers are between 25-30 years of age the outliers are children who shouldnt be playing games like COD and GTA and the now elderly and mature aged gamer thanks to the emergence of casual gaming.

Why should the key demographic be punished because of the outlier markets? it makes no sense.

I do believe that as the generation moves up things will be different, but i think also a majority of it falls on the parents and i know that when i have children i will not be letting them play Grand Theft Auto and i will be educating them as to why...

Parra Pride - 100% agree - why the hypocrisy in the arguement, film and television itself has been slipping down the moral scale for decades now to horrible degrees - radio also where you can tune in in the morning while driving your kids to work and hear people like Kyle and Jackie O discussing orgasms and other smut... not a word uttered.

Read my article that i posted if you havent already.

Apparently the rest of the states have agreed to the R Rating and the Commenwealth are considering overriding them/proceeding without them
