*sigh* Ok then, lets play that game.

Why you bloody Queenslander you. You will get yours one day, just you wait and see, you will get your cumupins!!

There, thats the amount of effort your pathetic attepmt at fishing deserves. Now go.

aww, come on, you can do better than that!

i'm talking down the supposed rich depth of backs that NSW has. you can't just blame the selectors every year, sooner or later if you keep losing you must admit we have classier players. just because you have more NRL standard players to choose from doesn't mean your elite are as good as ours.

whinge all you like about inglis coming from bowraville, he was in the storm system from age 14 and their colts played out of norths in brisbane. its obvious he qualifies for us.

even without hodges this season, even if lockyer doesn't play the rep games, i wouldn't trade boyd, tate. folau, slater, prince, or thurston for any of your 'stars'!

sorry for you but the future doesn't look much better either. most of the best backs in every age group from 20's to 16's are ours.

QLD may have better players but that doesn't mean we don't have the players to compete.

Do you think NSW has been selecting their best possible team (or at least working towards it)? We're in no better shape than we were in 2006 and that has to be due to (in part, at least) the selectors.

Lets see what has happened in the past few years...they select a new look halves combination every game. We have cast a few of our best young halves aside (Mullen and Pearce played one game haven't been in the picture since, Carney never got a game) in favour of lesser halves like Bird, Anasta, Finch and Wallace. They select nothing players like Wolfman, McManus in the backline and White and Perry in the forwards. They place faith in Gidley as captain which more or less suggests he is one of our best/least dispensible players (nothing could be further from the truth!) we have tried to throw players like Jennings and Morris before their time and tried to make them into the next Inglis etc without proper support (no experience inside and outside of them, behind a pack that isn't going forward, up against Inglis, in a constantly changing team, etc).

And you wonder why NSW people are sick of the selection policies, regardless of the QLD talent pool.

Since 2006 Queensland has had...

The better fullback, wingers, centres, halves, front row forwards and hooker.

Combine those with a backrow who compliment those players and you have a superior side.

Unfortunately, those on here clutch at whatever excuses they can muster to avoid recognising that their state has been inferior at this contest since the represenative retirement of the games supposed best halfback of the century: Andrew Johns.

It's okay Blues fans, Queensland had to suffer with it with both Wally and Alfie, now it's your turn.

Mullen is arguably the most talented NSW 5/8.
Problem is at club level he switches between positions every week.

Someone needs to quickly untap the potential there because his ball skills and running game are exceptional.

His kicking game is abit hit and miss though.

Question is, would Inglis, Thurston, Slater, etc etc, be considered superior if Qld hadnt been so dominant over the last few years. Talent wise yes, easily compared to anything that we have thrown up recently, but image wise? reputation wise?

I believe that winning becomes a habbit, and winning is the best way to instil confidence. If NSW had won 06, would Gaz be our five eight still? would he have flourished there? If Mullen had of grasped his opportunity better would Anasta or Bird ever have seen our 6 jersey?

As someone else said a while ago, when NSW lost Joey and Fittler, the pendulum certainly did start to swing, and anyone who thinks it wont swing back is just arrogant and foolish. Speaking of pendulums starting to swing, looks like Locky is a bit closer to rep retirement.

Consistancy has been the key for Qld. Consistancy in players, performance and coaching.

NSW, for whatever reasons, has failed to achieve any of these key areas over the last 4 seasons.

1. B Stewart
2. J Hayne
3. M Jennings
4. C Lawrence
5. B Morris
6. T Campese/J Mullen
7. B Kimmorley

Stewart has runs on the board as fullback and his positional play in defence is much better than Gidley or Hayne. Ever since the selectors decided Cooper was past it, the centres have needed Lawrence. He's solid defensively, he can create and setup tries as well as finishing them, having speed to burn. Kimmorley showed how instrumental he was in Origin III. He was the real captain that night, barking orders at Gidley in defence as well as making try saving tackles of his own. His direction, organisation and experience are what NSW need until they sort out who is going to be their halves for the future.

I think you gta have the Moz's together and leave them there for the next 7 years

put confidence in them there will be no reason to change it in future years,

I like how everyone includes Jennings as a certainty despite the fact his two games have been very underwhelming. His third wasnt much worse then wolfmans, so please, do pick him.

I certainly havn't forgotten about how talented everyone says he is!

would have slowed down quite a bit and honestly the guy cant string together 10 games let alone a bulk of good performances

i cant remember him having what you would call a strong dominant season even in the last 2 or 3 years with Parra

and why would you have a backline that young then have a 29yr old returning from union when u got guys like Jennings, Lawrence, Idris and Morris in the waiting

Umm because he is more talented and aggresive then those players. Jennings is in my team by the way. If Idris ever plays origin i will laugh. He is a slow overated piece of sh*t

Ah, you realise he only played 2 games last series right?

His first game was pretty good, he got injured during the game which limited him in attack but he was good defensively. Second game wasn't as good, Inglis made him look ordinary a few times but he does that to everyone, he was also injured in that game too.

Did very well in the four nations when given an opportunity, if he starts 2010 in similar form he should warrant strong consideration.

Guys like Tahu and Lyon have plenty to prove also...

putting hayne there because hes never really showed us what he could do in his prime position in origin level and if he does pretty well in his secondary level. imagine the depth he brings on fullback. The morris brothers on one wing. solid defence, speed out wide and they know each others strengths. Tahu adds solid defence and loads of experience to the backline. Add lawrence to that and you get a mix of fast, big, solid backs which could match the maroons in every way.

6 Carney, Soward, Mortimer, Campese, Barrett
7 Hornby, Pearce, Wallace, Kimorely

That is probably the best we can put forward 1-5, too bad Jennings. Dunno about halves. Wait and see I guess. I'd like to see Hornby at 7 and Carney at 6 with Peace or Soward off the bench.

Will be interested in what Qld throw up. Probably

1 Slater
2 Boyd
3 Inglis
4 Folau injured?, Lote
5 Yow Yeh, Tonga

6 Prince injured? Lockyer retiring? Cronk?
7 Thurston
