something along those lines sounds good or something like in the uk, with national league 1 and 2. with premotion and relegation would be good!
Between NSW Cup and JBC that might work but wouldn't work anywhere else IMO. It didn't work well in the UK so we had to stop P & R betwen SL and NL1 and until recently every promoted side to NL1 from NL2 went straight down again

I'd like to see a "champions league" tournament between NSW and Q'land cup top teams at end of each year.

Newcastle are out of the NSW Cup. Excess players will be split between clubs in the local comp.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that means the NSW cup is left with 11 teams now;

1. Windsor
2. Wests
3. Wenty
4. Norths
5. Newtown
6. Canterbury
7. Balmain
8. Cronulla
9. Central Coast
10. Shellharbour
11. Auckland.

Has anyone heard of any other teams that may enter or withdraw??

Sending players to JBC worked well for St George. 4 of the 17 in the last few games played with Shellharbour during the season.

The problem is that often once a player in the JBC plays 1st Grade, they cannot return to the JBC as they will have accumulated too many loading points. This means they either have to play park footy (not great) or hope that their team has links to a Qld Cup side.

As for St George, the players who featured prodominantley for the Marlins never looked like getting a spot in 1st Grade (Bobongie, Green, etc), with the exception of Ben Ellis.

The 4 were Ellis, Prior, Rogers and Sailor. They only adjust the points at season end so Ellis played NRL at the start of the season then most of the year with the Marlins then back to NRL at the end. Prior never came back because he kept getting picked in 1st grade and Rogers played with the Marlins after playing NRL with Souths earlier in the season.

Dell ended up at Burleigh due to what I thought was due to the loading system.

As for Newcastle, have they even approached a Metro Cup or Qld Cup side to put their reserves in?

Newcastle is splitting their players among the local clubs. Newcastle has traditionally had a strong comp but it fell away quite a bit last year, such that the Illawarra comp was the stongest in the CRL and they won the Country championship.

Sailor playing for the Marlins was a great publicity thing for the club but to put him in a second time they would have had to drop either Green or Ellis and they were the best players working in the middle of the field while Sailor was on the wing not doing much. Alternatively you can put all 3 in but drop a stack of other players and field half a reserve grade team. They did that one game where Rogers played and they had a draw with one of the bottom teams. It is all about balance.

Reds have failed in their bid to lure an ex NRL coach West and will stick with Chris Dever who coached them last season.
