The two photos below show one second after Fifita passes and two seconds.
Using Cameron Munster's head in the pictures below to place where Crighton is on the field. Using the stationary players to plot the moving ones, one can see that Fifita passes flat to Hamiso. Because Fifita is running towards Crighton as he passes flat to Hamiso who is in line, the ball floats a little forward. No sooner has the ball left Fifita's hand than Crighton tackles him pushing him back in the process. In the first top photo the ball has already left Fifita's hands. It is the white just showing at his shoulder. You can see between the top and the bottom photos, Hamiso has not yet begun to run. Quite the opposite in fact. Between the two photos Hamiso basically turns toward the ball and props. He is standing still waiting to catch the ball. That is not a forward pass.
Again, look at Cameron Munster's head using that to place where Crighton was before and after he drove Fifita back in the tackle. The impact on Fifita was when his full concentration was on the offload not on pushing against Crighton. Thus Crighton pushed Fifita backward in an instant making the float of the ball look like it was thrown forward but these photos show that Fifita's pass was fine. Also Hamiso was onside.
