What's Campo done to deserve those kinds of accolades?

For one, in the only game he played for NSW, a game that was lost due to some very f**king ordinary defense, he was the ONLY NSW back not to miss a single tackle, and he set up NSW's only real try.

Not bad for a rookie, he's also the best edge defender in the game today... watch the guy play, he's a fantastic defender and completely shuts play down on his side of the field, the way he handled Sam Thiaday agianst the broncos 2 weeks ago is exactly what NSW need on the edge.

He's also a great ball player, he didnt get involved enough in his first game i agree, but he was a guy on debut, you cant expect mircles from him. He should have retains his job and gone the distance through last years series, if he had of, we'd have a slam dunk decision on the #6 this year

instead we face another year of "rebuilding" in the halves

I can't say a good defender is EXACTLY what New South Wales need at five eigth, they have a number of those, what they need is a ball player like Barrett was in 2009. (Still can't believe Ennis or Kimmorley took all his credit) However, yes, I agree Campese is the best defensive five eigth in the game.

I haven't seen Campese's use any of these so called ball skills in ages...nor in any big games for that matter.

Fortunately for him, I can't think of any New South Wales five eigth that has been in THAT great a form.

I really don't think Hayne is one of those players who's up to captaining, especially at an origin standard. Captain would probably have to be Farah, or you could start Gallen and name him the (c)

Hayne wouldn't be my ideal choice for skipper but I can't stand the thought of Gallen being captain especially since he's not the most successful capt going around atm. Farah has only played 2 origin games and has been quite poor in both IMO, can't name a guy captain when he's not even guaranteed his spot.

Jennings and Farah have played a combined 3 games. Honestly, how many times have you seen them play origin? The only times you watch them play is when they carve up your pedestrian Eels side buddy.

Also, get over the loss to the Tigs mate. The rest of your fellow fans have, no need to dwell on it. Hayne will play as well as Benji one day.

This is not necessarily the best backline I could have picked, but I think it's the best origin backline. I wanted big, solid defensive centres that can mark up on QLD big outside backs, and get quick ball to NSW quick outside backs. The forward pack was a bit easier to pick but there are a few notable ommissions that I would consider depending on form.
