keary looks good and would suit origin, concern for him is that he and maloney are both very similar players. both are your running/support type 5/8s. although id be loathe to pick him pearce may be the best option for maloney. moses and moylan are both aids right now. i think its pretty clear moses was the one they were going to push for but his and parras (lack of) form has put that to bed.
If Cleary plays even a single game before the team are picked and pretty much picks up where he left off, you have to pick him. Only time you wouldn’t is if he has a shocker and plays like a mess.
maloney should be the only guy guarenteed a spot, whether its 6 or 7 doesnt matter as he plays the same either way. cleary would be the obvious match but i wouldnt throw him in if he's only played a game or two back
brooks is the other form half but id want him to do this for another 12 months before being seriously considered.
I like the phrase, "turns to shit in blue"Surely not Pearce. No matter how well he’s always going the guy just turns to shit in blue. I’d go Brooks before Pearce.
Moses would’ve gone close with after Freddy’s time with him in the World Cup. Thank god he and parra are struggling.
This is going to be unpopular, but I'm going to say it.
JDB > Jurbo.
Fire away.
I think it's close too. Jake's ballplaying is obviously superior, but the domination that JDB brings to the middle of the field is such a huge advantage that i think we'd be better off going with him.No argument here although for mine it's close with Jack belting blokes in one-on-one text book technique and seemingly developing a bit more attack and ball playing. Jake a solid, low defender as well with a more attack in him. Both great players and both deserving to be included.
1 Tedesco
2 Cotric
3 Mitchell
4 Trbojevic
5 Mansour
6 Moylan
7 Cleary
8 Klemmer
9 Peats
10 Vaughan
11 Cordner (c)
12 Frizell
13 Trbojevic
14 Bird
15 Campbell Gillard
16 De Belin
17 Graham
Tedesco was one of our best players last series, although he hasnt had the best start to the year it would be classic NSW to drop him after one series in which he was great. Cotric is my bolter, strong runner, good under the high ball and will be part of the team for a long time. Mitchell is a risk but I belive its worth it. I think Trbojevic will be fantastic in the centers, he won't have to take the hard runs bringing back the ball and can attack one on one.
Hopefully Cleary is fit and back in time. I want a young halves combination who can grow over time. I thougth Moylan was the best 5/8 we have had in years when he played there, Cleary and Moylan have alos played together and would have a combination. I went with Peats here but he is under huge pressure. Very close to picking Cook but went with Peats for now.
I think the foward pack looks very strong, I really like the idea of a mobile bench who can lift speed off the game when they come on. Vaughan, RCG and De Belin have to be picked imo. A lot of versatilty in the bench aswell. Bird is the perfect utility player
ch 7 report last night from Massoud suggesting there is going to be a massive clean out.
he mentioned the only certainties are Cordner, the Trbojevic bros, and Maloney.
still considering Pearce - Finchy LOL
The players from last series that deserve to return are Klemmer, Jake Trbojevic, Bird, Dugan. Josh is bad news -> don't want him around new younger players. The other 3 should be there.
Can't believe Tyson Frizell isn't a certainty.
I think it's close too. Jake's ballplaying is obviously superior, but the domination that JDB brings to the middle of the field is such a huge advantage that i think we'd be better off going with him.
Probably a null point at this stage though. Only injury will stop Jurbo's name being read out at #13 in origin 1.
That's a very fair point. I was thinking that playing both would detract from one of their strengths, which is to play long minutes. But with the speed of origin, even if they were both reduced to 50 minutes each, they could maintain their effort plays.they can both be selected. one starts, the other in the rotation in the 15 mins either side of half time. It just depends on how Fittler intends on tactically using them. Does he start Debelin for some muscle at the start and bring on Trbojevic later in half where he was so effective up against Glasby, Papalli & Hess last series? Klemmer likewise was effective in the interchange role against that QLD rotation.
Another journo (Andrew Webster) will tell you the four certainties are Cordner, Maloney, Frizell and Campbell-Gillard.ch 7 report last night from Massoud suggesting there is going to be a massive clean out.
