That looks like a pretty good side.

Interesting to see two Queenslanders (Friend and Jones) and a Kiwi (Nutira) in the side.

Dominic Walsh is only Under-16s so he has done very well to make the side.

(Note: i split this from the other thread as i thought this deserved it's own topic).

CRL official told me today that Suckley wasn't even in the trial sides that played during the week. Apparently there was a communication breakdown and he wasn't asked to trial but the selectors said "where the F*ck is Wes Suckley?" and they still picked him. So he's done very well to be chosen.

CRL official half correct. You are correct in stating that Wes was not picked in the original teams, but he did play. He played with a busted shoulder (injured in the 1st game of CHS trials at Toronto, but still played all 3 games there). Interchanged between prop,2nd row, lock and centre. He got a call at school (Coonabarabran) on the day of the game from Craig Young at the saints saying that he had been booked on a plane and to get his ar*e to the airport.

As I stated in the other thread I thought that he would have been a shoe-in for the no.12 and I did question his absence from the official teams named for the trial.

Are those changes confirmed? If so, its good to see Waddell moved into the centres, thats his best position IMO.

I guess those changes are confirmed. I think Jake Friend went back to Qld.

I can't believe Peter Tuiafiso from Canterbury wasn't put on the wing. Also Matt Mundine from the Dragons was unlucky to miss out on a place in the pack.

NSW triumphs as brawl erupts

By Philip Henderson

June 13, 2007 ONE player was sent off and another two were sin-binned after a brawl erupted late in the State of Origin curtain raiser at Telstra Stadium.

New South Wales thumped Queensland 52-18 in the under-17 representative match after a seven-tries-to-one blitz in the second half.

Both sides, though, finished the match without their full compliment of players after tensions boiled over five minutes from full-time.

Punches were thrown in the all-in brawl, with Queensland halfback Ricardo Parata sent off for his part in the fight.

Maroons teammate Josh McGuire and NSW back rower Mitch Jowett were sin-binned.

NSW, leading 40-18, had already wrapped up the game, but it ran in a further two tries.

Centre Greg Waddell claimed a hat-trick of tries for NSW, with fullback Lachlan Coote and wing Nathan Gardner also bagging doubles.

Gardner finished with a match haul of 24 points, kicking eight goals form nine attempts, including four successful shots from out wide.

The try of the match, though, went to Queensland fullback Anthony Raymond, who fielded a grubber kick on his own goalline, weaved through the NSW defence and then sprinted the length of the field to score midway through the second half.

The scores were locked 12-12 at half-time, but NSW scored four unanswered tries early in the second half to ensure an emphatic win.

NSW captain Wade Graham and halves partner Adam Reynolds also scored tries - both showing great strength in crashing over from short range - while Steven Elliott and Dan Cross crossed for Queensland in the first half.

future looking ok for Penrith..

I saw Waddell play last night and have never been more impressed with him...I thought he wasn't that good...but last night he showed he was. Lachlan Coote was awesome as was Wade Graham who showed that he will be Penrith's next halfback to play for 10 years.

Waddell played Harold Mathews last yr as a second rower, and he can also play wing. However i have no doubts his best position is at centre.
