Moffett is really painting himself into a corner.

He's open to talking with the SI-Bid, but the SI-Bid don't want anything to do with him.. while they're a firm "no" on any dealings with the Orcas. (Maybe they're scared of being dominated & taken-over by the Orcas bid?)

It sounds a lot like the "South Island NRL Bid" without a nickname (aka Endacott Bid) & the Orcas bid are well on the path towards agreeing terms, and the Keas will be left out in the cold.

It'll be interesting to see how any agreement between SI-Bid & the Orcas shapes up.

I'm guessing it may mean SI-Bid steps aside with some development/admin positions for key people in the SI-Bid somewhere within the Orcas organization ? Both seem to have a real focus on grass-roots & junior development that the Keas bid is comparatively scant on.

Pro Perth consortium people can only see problems with non Perth teams. Couldn't see why Perth bid would fall apart like others correctly predicted.

Part of the Southern Orcas plan is bringing-in Wellington - they're using the Wellington team's nickname for a start, and I gather that a game (or games) each season in Wellington is in their plan.

Branding the club as "South Island" cuts against that.

I don’t like that part of the bid to be honest.

Second NRL club in NZ should be South Island focussed for mine. Play the majority of games in Christchurch and play a few games elsewhere on the South Island.

This is exactly what I've been saying, the Endacott bid is very grass roots, whoever is willing to team up with them should cross the finish line, arlc like the whole grass roots angle, (coz they wont have to invest time/effort in setting them up, they just throw cash at it, or expect the bid team to do it) and if Ipswich had the money behind them like the dolphins did they would have been close to pipping them aswell...
Endacott might not have the Capital on his own, but with the Orcas, (if the money is real) they are easily in

Precisely. If the Orcas bid teams up with SI-NRL and one of the compromises is "South Island home games only", then the Wellington Rugby League will launch a major objection to them using the Orcas name.

I understand that, but that’s not what my ideal would look like for an NZ2 licence.

I also don’t like location names like “Southern, Wests, Western” etc. I would rather they go the Dolphins route and just be called Orcas then.

Exactly. No one asks an Australian club to spread their home games all over the ying yang yet we think it's something New Zealand teams should do.
