I didn't like the one over thing... much like how I don't like golden point. That said, I feel sorry for picking on him because he had just bowled a magic spell... but by Dan's standards they were six of the worst pies he's ever bowled. Half trackers that we would have loved to have been bowled at QEII Oval. Poor buggar, he was on a hiding to nothing. I'd back him more often than not though to be honest, very good flight bowler and very effective in the limited overs versions of the game.
Ewen Thompson strikes me as being a bit like Tama Canning. Looks effective enough for a first class cricketer but he lacks 5-10 kilometres to be a very good international bowler. I feel Kyle Mills is falling into this trap too, sadly. His form is way down. He bowled one absolute rip snorter in the 2nd 20/20 that was at 137ks, but he doesn't look like hitting that speed consistently and any swing he now gets is banana swing. Is Mills carrying any injuries because it's sad to see him falling backwards in a fairly ordinary attack.
Jesse Ryder I feel is going to be a fine bat for New Zealand. Very pure striker of the ball. Great hand eye coordination. Times it beautifully. Only thing he really needs to fix is playing the forward defence closer to the front pad, sometimes he's getting out leg before and bowled with a decent gap between the gate. For an inexperienced cricketer, he's very positive and confident in his game. Felt for Ross Taylor, the Windies fielded appallingly and to fall to that catch by Marshall... you know things are just going from bad to worse for you. He needs to concentrate hard in this ODI series and regain confidence at international level, it's now time to start converting into some match winning performances.
