Morris was always the interim and his contract was up. There was no shitting and no faces.

He most certainly was not an interim no matter how you want to paint it. Don’t tell lies.

He was employed as an NRL coach and his contract got terminated before it’s term was complete.

Man you tell yourself some fibs.

So he would have at least been with us for 1 more year, if not 2

No, because our contract was beaten in terms of $$$ and length.

Seems there’s a lot of misunderstanding about how these things actually work. Perhaps that’s the reason for these odd assumptions.

So do you think there was any reason why townsend sat on the contract offer and waited until after Bombe was sacked, or do you think the contract was offered and agreed to in that week?

Morris got paid his contract in full and the club moved on because they thought Fitz would be better option into the future. Only a potato would argue otherwise

There was a time when the option expired. So, he had to tell the club whether he wanted to take up his option by say 30 June. So, he was able to weigh up other offers during that time.

Very few of these deals are done without testing the market in some capacity.

Chad got offered a great deal by NQLD and asked Cronulla what they could do. They couldn’t/ wouldn’t beat it. That happened after Morris was let go. All we know is that Morris gave him a contract that was substantially beaten by another party in the first year of the option. Hardly seems like he’s given him some crazy “overs” deal.

so we’re paying for someone to do nothing for a year. Top financial management that.

We may yet be broke again by the end of this decade.

Considering he was sacked about half way through his last year on contract, and his contract was only worth $350K per season, if the club is going to be broke in a few years by the loss of $175k this year, which is in the coaches salary cap anyway, well then we should shut up shop now
bloody hell

Haha. Don’t bother with the agent provocateur spud. The only $ loss is whatever the upgrade to Hannay was for this year. Be surprised if it was more than $50k. The bloke wants to hang around long term as an assistant

my poppy told me “watch the cents and the dollars will look after themselves”.

Anyway, we got rid of him before the term of the contract, no matter which way you want to weasel word it

There’s more to life than dollars.

it’s become almost comical watching this club haemorrhage money. You’d think we’d learn but we don’t.

Win the lotto and it’s gone in a year haha.

Says the bloke who just quoted me talking about financial mismanagement and going broke in a year. Then...when it was pointed out your argument was a pile of shit....‘there’s more to life than dollars.’ I get you get jollies out of stirring and I don’t mind playing along every now and again. But this one is getting embarrassing.

Maybe you’re a bludger that would be thrilled to be thrown money to do nothing.

However some blokes like John Morris actually like to get shit done and would rather be working.

Meanwhile, the club signed him to a supposedly “interim deal” that was a year longer than it needed to be... Not a great use of financial resources to pay for someone you never intended to see out their deal.

Anyway good luck Fitz.

I’m sure this lot will throw a tanty and turn on you the moment your tenure involves any kind of minor hiccup- your fault or not.

So now you’re worried about bomber not being ‘busy’? Make your mind up.

oh that’s right you’re in the infinity thread, you’re just going to keep going on and on and on with them, I think I’ll nickname you “Ocean”

Look, I don’t think the sacking of bomber in itself will send the club broke, but it’s still wasted money.

150 bucks in a pokie wont send you broke but if you do it every night it might. The one night pokie binge probably still isn’t prudent financial management though.
