What that really means is that the Dargons will have to be playing more out of the Gong than Jubillee.
It will come a time that either the NRL or the NSW Govt owns half, or all, the ground. That will be the time upgrades will happen.
They won't get any more govt grants until it's not solely owned by the Sharks.

Exactly my point.

Question to the forum. At this point, Do you care if we own the ground anymore or not given it’s an absolute embarrassment and genuinely nothing to be proud of!

Side note… if you have tickets in upper ET you can’t provide an opinion.

I personally want the club to have either the NRL or NSW Govt as shareholders in the ground.
It used to be the one thing that kept the banks at bay, and saved the club plenty of times.
Now it's a hindrance.
Luckily I am in the Lower ET haha

I jest about where people sit. I think people know what I’m saying. The reality is this, 15 years ago the stadium was under pressure to have some upgrades made to hold off the relocation of club or at a minimum our home games. The development comes along and although there are no actually plans agreed to for stadium upgrades we get a stay of execution.

All non sharks fans watch on as the area is developed, some still think we are getting a new stadium when really we got an ALDI and so far a new roof on the leagues club.

We can say we need the home ground advantage and all that but the truth is the only benefit to playing there will be the leagues club revenue (if it opens). What the club should feel ashamed of is charging what they do for tickets and removing GA seating at northern end only to not sell them. If I fly economy I get what I pay for, if I fly business same deal. This doesn’t apply to shark park, tickets go up standards go down.

Posts like this previously made me angry, how dare someone say this about shark park, now I direct that anger at the club. Not even the guys there now, but the whole last 30 years, collectively we are in this situation due to decades of mismanagement.

So Oz, with all this what do you want?

Glad you asked!!!

While I sound fired up, I’m super chill. What I want I’m not sure, what I don’t want though is to be still having these conversations in 3 years, there needs to be a plan, whatever it is. We just simply can’t be playing at Woolooware in 5 years with zero upgrades, it’s simply not fair on the fans and more to the point the players.

That’s what I was referring to on Friday. Good on them. Benefits of not owning your own ground. Maybe we should sell it.

If we are going to sell it, sell it to the developers. Selling it to the NRL, they will sell it to developers, get the money, and we will be at Kogarah or the SFS.
May as well make the money if you want to do that.
Personally, whilst it annoys people we get a home final there, sit tight. We get the same grant as every other club, so let us play in our ground.

i guess the question is, how do you parlay the ownership of this rapidly crumbling asset, but asset none the less into what we need, which is a 20k seat ground, with greater corporate facilities and some form of centre of excellence type build.

if you just sell up, you can pocket a bit but then what? we have mule with a spinning wheel playing at kogarah?

if you do a deal wth the nsw government, i think something is achievable. would be a bold vision though.

sell the ground to the govt, they now have a site for more housing. they then build and other stakeholders (soccer, union) a ground and facility at loftus at the tafe as part of a huge uplift there.

Yeah it’s all ideas right… if it’s still ideas in 5 years it means it’s still 10 years away from a shovel in the ground.

It’s like deciding if you should have surgery to get better. Keep putting it off and at some point it doesn’t matter what you hope for or decide to do. It’s too late.

This is my point, I’m sure soon someone will ask me why I’m ranting about it and what’s my idea, but the point I’m making is it’s not up to me. I’m also not ranting, I could take or leave what they do to be honest but it’s no good for the younger ones who want to go there for the next 20 years. It’s time to do something, anything really.

The ground has passed it use by date, the club needs to make a decision on where they see themselves in twenty years time.
It cannot be at Shark Park if the ground is not completely redeveloped.
We have the worst ground in the league, there is no atmosphere either at the ground.
I have been watching a lot of EPL and some teams fans really get behind there team to generate atmosphere, this is what is needed not sit on your hands all game, and I am.not talking the top of table team, my team Sunderland battlers our fans make so much noise, that every team now hates visiting, that is what we need to have

yeah but stake, you must admit that the english fan experience and culture is different to that of australias in general.

keep the comparison to the NRL.

compared to the OTHER NRL clubs we are quiet.

As to the first part, ofcourse, but the plan so far has been "hey give us money, what do you mean no?"
they've tried nothing, they are all out of ideas and running out of time realistically.
