India need to win, then beat the poms to make it to the final

Australia day means an Australian win :sarcasm:

Smith looks like he could do with a rest but its his home ground on Australia day so it would probably be wrong to rob him of the game. Stupid Bailey getting suspended.

I'd be giving Smith a rest, and probably Cummins. Would be tempting to give Haddin a freshen up too.

Hard to believe that Smith wasn't initially picked for the South African series

Looks ridiculous now, but he had only just started to aim up in Pakistan which was the series prior to that. Take out the last 4months and his one day record is really poor. Hadn't got a one day fifty prior to October. Remarkable turnaround.

rest? you blokes serious?

They have 2 weeks off before the opening WC game vs the poms (though there is two trial games)

Better playing on Australia day and the tri series final, and skip one or both of the trials

They also basically have a week off in between games in the world cup (except one week where we play Afghanistan midweek)

But in most of those games he batted no higher than 6 and mainly 7 or 8. Now he is just about the first batsman picked.

exactly, he started to aim up

so why the f**k would you drop him, pick him when he is in form

Starc was our perennial 12th man and through injuries, he got to play 2 tests in a row and look what the momentum did for him

I think Cummins needs more cricket.

Watching him bowl yesterday he was bowling at just under 150ks for nearly every ball and he got belted.

When he was bowling at the death he started to very his pace and got wickets so hopefully he started to realise that you cant get wickets by just bowling fast on a highway.

I think he is still learning how to bowl and needs more, not less.

Dont forget he is still very young and has been out of cricket for along time.

I also think Sandu is streets ahead of him atm but he's not in our WC squad.

Don't know. Might have diminished his Pakistan efforts due to a perception of conditions suiting. Maybe not confidant it would translate. To that point, Pakistan was the only ODI success in a good sized sample. Either way, everything worked out.
