It would be a positive step if the club were willing to release the names of Jets signed players and it has been requested to have been posted or even sent out on the newsletter, I have more interest in knowing who is playing rather than clothing sales.

The Roosters did post several names on their site several weeks ago but it is now gone. I am surprised it has taken so long for anyone to ask this question but it is important especially for those paying season ticket memberships.

the way the rooster/newton jets relationship is working this year is that newtown must supply/fund more players to the nsw premier league side then in previous years...approximately half the players that will train with newtown during te season will be roosters payed players and the other half will be funded by newtown...that being said the roosters only signed players that have a possibility of playing nrl (some more then others) plus the roosters boys that are all over 20(born in or previous to 1987) train with top squad....so logic would state that that would improve them....the roosters players that are intended to playpremier league are pretty good and the newtown recruits are superficially of fair quality...the actual best side in 2008? itll be tough to determine until after the trials and will depend heavily on the availablity of nrl/nyc players but here goes nothing...

1. brent grouse
2. tevita falou
3. albert hopoate
4. reece pritchard
5. shaun foley
6. riley brown
7. blonde haired guy from norths qcup
8. frank paul
9. rory kostijason
10. shane shackleton
11. mickey paea
12. hep cahill
13. anthony cherrington (nyc permitting)

14. danny howard? unsre if good enough
15. don thompson? unsure if good enough
16. front rower
17. front rower

thats the best i could do....im unsure of the halfback, seem him a few times, very short, looks good tho. cherrington may find himself in pl this year as the nyc will be a step back from what he is used to...other players that will break form the nyc ranks this year include top25 players such as, ben jones and martin kennedy. aswell as players who did the earlier stages of presaeson training with first grade such as james tamou, stanley waqa mose mosoe.who are all massive players. players such as rohan ahern and antonio wintterstien may be in contention to blood into the open age competion in preparation for a firstgrade debut in the years ahead (possibly 2008). as far as the newtown based players are concerned...im sure they will all do there role in 2008, however for the most part the best option for the team would be to use the roosters players. newtown have signed some good players they just havent got that great depth of players that is needed. great starting 13 tho...would ratlle any pl side in 2008

Hep Cahill?? last years coach used to send him back to park football!! but loved that useless winger who wore head gear??? it will come to me.

The club could shed light onto this subject if they would keep supporters up to date with who has or has not signed with the club, but yet again, they, the club just keep sticking it up the date!!

Just picked this up from our "Strategic Sponsor"site

<DIV id=post_message_3976083>Meredith is not part of the roosters profiles for 2008 but I don't know if this means he is not contracted. Could be contracted to newtown so I sent an e-mail to geln dwyer from newtown regarding contracted players and this was his response:

Hello,
We&#8217;ll probably put the Newtown training squad up on our website just prior to the first trial match.
You would probably be aware that the large majority of Newtown&#8217;s team for the first competition round will come from the Roosters NRL ranks.
Newtown has entered into a partnership with the Chester Hill RLFC for players registered with Newtown in 2008 who aren&#8217;t playing in the NSW Cup on any given weekend to be available for selection in the Chester Hill Jim Beam Cup team.
Thanks for your interest in the Newtown Jets RLFC.
Best wishes,
Glen Dwyer
Director and Media Officer
Newtown RLFC.

what a discraceful reply, a genuine supporter of the clubs "Strategic Sponsor" makes a simple inquiry, yet this guy is a total ignoramus, when the members see through this jerk and his fellow cronies the club might, just might regain some long lost supporters and ex-players

Thanks Wayne,

Good too see the Jets finally shed some light on the way the team may look,

What irks me more than anything is the way the club lays claim to some of the players as EX-NEWTOWN!! why not announce them as returning to the fold? to me it looks like they feel the need to justify the signing.

The one good thing to come out of this release is the name Aaron Lai has not been mentioned.

Some new faces there, but a solid lookin side on paper. Shame Ndaira apparently signed by souths. Looking forward to watching Steve MERIDITH this season again, expecting some good games.
Brother of greeny from 2005 season, hope he's got some of his brothers ticker. should be interesting indeed.
