memyself&i said:the way the rooster/newton jets relationship is working this year is that newtown must supply/fund more players to the nsw premier league side then in previous years...approximately half the players that will train with newtown during te season will be roosters payed players and the other half will be funded by newtown...that being said the roosters only signed players that have a possibility of playing nrl (some more then others) plus the roosters boys that are all over 20(born in or previous to 1987) train with top squad....so logic would state that that would improve them....the roosters players that are intended to playpremier league are pretty good and the newtown recruits are superficially of fair quality...the actual best side in 2008? itll be tough to determine until after the trials and will depend heavily on the availablity of nrl/nyc players but here goes nothing...
1. brent grouse
2. tevita falou
3. albert hopoate
4. reece pritchard
5. shaun foley
6. riley brown
7. blonde haired guy from norths qcup
8. frank paul
9. rory kostijason
10. shane shackleton
11. mickey paea
12. hep cahill
13. anthony cherrington (nyc permitting)
14. danny howard? unsre if good enough
15. don thompson? unsure if good enough
16. front rower
17. front rower
thats the best i could do....im unsure of the halfback, seem him a few times, very short, looks good tho. cherrington may find himself in pl this year as the nyc will be a step back from what he is used to...other players that will break form the nyc ranks this year include top25 players such as, ben jones and martin kennedy. aswell as players who did the earlier stages of presaeson training with first grade such as james tamou, stanley waqa mose mosoe.who are all massive players. players such as rohan ahern and antonio wintterstien may be in contention to blood into the open age competion in preparation for a firstgrade debut in the years ahead (possibly 2008). as far as the newtown based players are concerned...im sure they will all do there role in 2008, however for the most part the best option for the team would be to use the roosters players. newtown have signed some good players they just havent got that great depth of players that is needed. great starting 13 tho...would ratlle any pl side in 2008
