RIDDELL JOINS PARRAMATTA

The Parramatta National Rugby League Club is pleased to announce that player Mark Riddell has today agreed to terms to a 3 year deal.

“It is great that Mark accepted our proposal to further his career at Parramatta. He will be a fine acquisition with his strong forward play as well as his excellent goal kicking,” Parramatta Eels Chief Executive Denis Fitzgerald said.

The Club is also pleased to announce that players Wade McKinnon and Feleti Mateo have agreed to 2 year deals, whilst Dean Widders and Luke O’Dwyer will remain at the Club for the 2005 season.

Very good....its nice to see some players keen to come/stay despite all the garbage that has gone on.....I know many believe we may be overpaying Riddell, but he is a quality player and I think a good acqusition - we need someone who can provide an impact and break the line.

Christ how many players are you going to have to offload now that you've signed Riddell? I heard on talkin sport someone from the eels said a couple of NRL quality players would have to make way to sign Riddell.

He's a very good acquisition, but at 330k per season, I think you've paid well over the top for him.

It was rumoured last week that we have even more money than Manly to spend and will be the most competitive team in the marketplace. We only have 2 more crucial players to resign (Grothe and Stapelton) so we'll be seeing a few more signings in the coming weeks no doubt about it! Dykes is heading back to the Sharks from what i've heard...

if you believe the SMH report its 330k, if you believe the news ltd reports its 250k. If he plays more rep footy it'll be closer to the higher amount, if he doesn't then perhaps it'll be closer to the lower one. either way, get lost you party poopers, tryin to rain on our parade!! Nothing official but the $330k quoted by the SMH included incentives for playing rep football and points scored etc. His base will be about $250k. Not much more than what the Sharks and the Dragons wanted him for.
