Christ how many players are you going to have to offload now that you've signed Riddell? I heard on talkin sport someone from the eels said a couple of NRL quality players would have to make way to sign Riddell.

He's a very good acquisition, but at 330k per season, I think you've paid well over the top for him.

I agree that is way too much money, however I think you'll find that it's just speculation that that is the amount we've offered him. First we offered him 270 according to the papers, then it was apparently reduced to 250, now it's been bumped up to 330. I think the first figure would be more accurate. If we have spent 330 k though, you're right, it's a wast of money.

Parrafan: Last weeks Sun-Herald stated that Afamasaga is already signed till the end of 2005 but Parra are already looking to extended his deal, Anderson is also signed till end of 2005.

As Eels dude said the offer to Riddell has be speculated at everything between 250-330K a year.

Yay Piggy is on his way to Parra. And personally I think 250K with incentives is great about time we started rolling out the $$$ for some quality rather than cheap ass hopefuls. Everyone complains on here when we go for Quantity not quality well this should please those people. And Wade & Widders have re-signed which is something to make you walk around like this all day: :D

Colonel: With Morris off contract next year it will make it interesting if Riddell blitz's them in his 1st year at the club similar to Drew in 2001.

Yeah that's what I've been saying all along re Grothe & Stapleton but some guys reckon they aren't signed for next year????? Hence the confusion.

Maybe Planeteels can clarify?

Congrats about ALL of the signings and resignings.

Let's hope it is the start of something great.

Re Riddell, it will be great sprint training for the existing eels when it comes time for the smorgasboard!!!!

It will however Morris's versatility will keep him in good stead with the club. Personally I can see Wagon being pushed out by this deal rather than Riddell.

Just on a Sports Tonight update according to it the deal is worth OVER 1million meaning at least 340 per year so it would be interesting to see who does leave might give a better idea as to how much Riddell is actually on.

Its worth over $340 or whatever but only if he plays rep football. I think that was the sweetner that the Dragons couldn't afford to offer.

yeah, I guess all the reports could be true then.

$250K per year BASE fee
but incentives, bonuses etc could bring it up to $340 per year.

Far too much has been spent on an area that is not a problem for Parramatta :?

Unless we have a pack that is as dominant as the Dragons, the Pig will be a slow moving target that will be picked off easily.

This is a Brian Smith decision, and it could be the one that saves or sinks him.

What do you mean the sweetner to get him over from the Queens was the chance to play rep footy??? Fair dinkum mate you have more chance of being picked in the rep teams if you play for the Roosters or the Dragons than you would playing for the eels.

The sweetner was they offered him 200k, you guys offered him 330k nothing more. At least he'll be able to update his BMW again.

Seriously he will be fantastic for you guys and I hope he gives you that lift you have been missing, well done Parra.

And you would think that players like Bedures(spellin), wing and priddis infront of him major rep footy wont happen...
Hopefully i am proved wrong and he has a remeakable season next yr with us that the selectors choose him

Exactly. The incentives are definitely in the club's favour with the quality of hookers for NSW at the moment. If he ends up getting them, then we would all be very happy that he had been playing that well for us.
