Speaking to someone who watched the state cup game yesterday who told me that both Kelly and Morgan had shockers... Not good given they're the next cab of the rank in their respective positions..

Morgan has played quite well prior to the last week or two. Not sure if he deserves a bum wrap just yet.

Kelly isn't so easy to defend. He has had some good phases of play but that is it. He can't take control of a game, even at the level of the NSW Cup.

Not at that level. Teams are a lot less cohesive and half the players only train fulltime. It's an environment where individual brilliance stands out a lot more, whereas in first grade those sorts of players are contained a lot more easily.

Kelly scored a try last week where he just dummied and jogged straight through the line and past the fullback. Neither Corey Norman nor Peats stood out in reserve grade last year. Justin Hunt and Api Koroisau were North Sydney's standout players because of their speed.

Wouldn't have Folau ahead of Morgan if Morgan was out of form?

It's very hard for first graders who get dropped to NSW cup to shine, it's a massive shot of confidence for them.
I think that's also what has been so impressive about Sandow, though he was dropped the way that he played those few games with Wenty were like he was playing first grade. Had a lot of energy which rubbed off on the players.

Well probably. But I think the big difference is that there are far more one-on-one opportunities in reserve grade, regardless of go forward. Players who excel in one-on-one situations will excel in reserve grade.

When I have watched the reserve grade-First grade players would stand out.I even remember when Luke Burt was dropped he stood out in reserves.
I agree with Pou that certain players styles wouldn't as much as other ( Deffensive lock) But anyone in your backline 1-7 should stand out.And so should most your forwards. Bar perhaps the hooker if he is more of a worker and defensive second rowers.
The thing is first graders are generally faster and stronger across the park. So when playing in a lesser grade they make more breaks or impact. If they don't than there usually not first graders
