Ok fair point however France,England,Australia,Sth Africa and NZ and Japan would have the money to splurge. Whilst the others will no doubt field teams,they dont have the money/millions to throw around.
Would they spend millions if the best stars were not available due to S14/6nations/tests ?

I was talking about China , Russia , Cuba etc and other countries who pour alot of money into its Olympic teams .
Do you think NZ and other rugby playing nations will put club rugby ahead of the Olympics ?

I read somewhere that the olympic federation would only consider rugby for the olympics if the best players were made available.

Cuba is not exactly flush with funds more a basketcase and supports financially(not millions BTW)established national codes such as athletics,baseball,basketball,boxing,China maybe, Russia has financial problems and to say they will pour millions into a new untried sport at the Olympics,how the hell do you know it will be millions ?

If you has said that the countries would financially support a 7s team,to train,arrange travel ,uniforms,pay living allowance I would agree.

If the S12 games or finals were on at the time of the Olympics< I could not see Umaga nor Tuqiri playing in an Olympic 7s comp with respect.
They dont even put the best players in 7s as it is now.

Taipan I know you don't want rugby to be in the Olympics or successful but I'll garuntee you that the Olympics will take prefence over S12 games .
Every rugby boss in Russia , Georgia , China and other minor rugby nations have said that rugby will on be successful in their country if it becomes an Olympic sport .
Because the goverments of this countries will pour millions of dollars to Olympic sports .

PW you have no idea what I want for starters. Olympics will take preference over every sport agreed,that doesnt mean Australia will provide their best players,if they happent to I will support them 100%.
Again you say every country will spend millions Georgia please.The Georgians battled financially to send a team to the RUWC,with support from the IRB.
Of course the Olympics is good for any sporting code,but the full not cut down version.ie soccer plays the Olympics with the 11 a side ,and the union should play with the 15 a side.Thats my opinion the fact you dont like it ,wont make me lose any sleep.

Well screeny said that Moscow was goin to spend over US$500,000 dollars on the league under 16 world cup .
Thats alot of money for a under 16 tournaments . Rugby is not an Olympic sport in Georgia and they only have to sent 10 players but with the help of the goverment .
Does the goverment paid for airfares for the Olympians or individuals sports ?
Mate Im happy and Im sure most rugby fans would be happy just to have any version of rugby in the Olympics .
Sevens would suit the Olympics because any Pacific Islands and other minor countries can win a medal .
You know and I know that to have 15 a side rugby tournament in the Olympics takes to long and it wont work .

Ok MR Mindreader read my other posts on the Olympic subject,union has been in the Olympics before, I neither will lose any sleep if 7s is in the olympics or not. If they have the best players for Oz and NZ I will watch it ,if not I will pass. I prefer 15s not 7s.If people in Oz preferred 7s in Oz the stadiums would be full and the 15 a side games would not.
I am giving my opinion as someone who prefers league but will watch the best in union on occasions.If union succeeds at the Olympics good on em.
Just giving my opinion/preference as a casual union observer thats all,and the defensive drawbridge is pulled up again.
The IRB,ARU,NZRU couldnt give a stuff as to what I think,but I seem to remember in this country you can voice an opinion or can you ?
