goes to a average player

my biggest regret of the last 2 years is not seeing a cambel/kimmorley half combination

good structure combined with unpredictable creativity

why is this position doomed to mediocrity for the sharks?

We saw it once. NZ 2002, when Matty Johns was unable to make the trip.

They did okay too, that was the last game before we started our record winning streak.

Who was the number 6 for NZ last year when they beat the roos?
Too bad he is needed wider out.

I am a firm believer in 1,6,7,9 being the most influencial and key positions on the field.

Some speed out wide and some go forward and the key guys do the rest.
All must be able to tackle.

Peachy
Vagana
Kimmorley
Sullivan

Current premiers
Wesser
Campbell
Gower
Priddis

However Hilder should be OK here, as long as he just plays like a running forward.
Leave the ball distributing to BK, Sully and the peach.

Nah, all you need is a good #7 and a couple of decent props. The rest are baggage...

:p

Hopefully Hilder goes well for us there. Didn't he debut for us in the number 6?

His debut was off the bench. From memory his first start was against Newcastle at hooker

I didn't think he went particularly well there. He's not a ball player, he's a ball runner. If we put Vagana at 5/8 we are effectively playing with 1 half and an extra centre. With Hilder there are playing with 2 locks. I don't like it as a long term solution, but I am willing to put up with it until Aitken starts dominating PL.

WTF!!!!!
Look, I was always Vaganas biggest critic. I always thought he received good service from a good a Dogs back line & he finished the others work off.
I could not see the value(320K) in signing such a player.
But after watching that test he played at 5/8, I was a convert. I see the skills he has in both running but more importantly, passing.
I therefor think his sills are wasted in the centres.

that game was about the best game he's ever played and at the time we thanked the NZ coach for using him there and unearthing a great 5/8 prospect

[edit] ali what were you watching?! [/edit]

i dont know if he will be best at centre, where he may not do much more than chase down noddy's kicks and tackle
or 5/8 where he mightn't get the ball all that often

fullback could be the go, eh reefy?
;-)

It was Ali SSS no Angry.

& no we have one of the best fullbacks in the game already thanks.

When NZ came back in that match and then opened their lead Vagana was indeed playing fullback. They had switched him to cover that position when (can't remember him) went off injured. He and Toopi were awesome that day. I'd stick with Peach at full back though. Maybe we will have three ball players now.

Hilder average? :?

Good choice in my books. Too much work required in defence to throw Nigel in their just yet. I think he's a good player in the making and the logical choice imo.

I like the idea of rotating him and Sully during the game too. :)

Hilder has been playing average this year maybe this is a chance for him to show another side to his game. He certainly knows how to tackle and because a lot of the forwards from opposing teams tend to run a bit off the ruck and at the smaller backline players Hilder will give us a bit of strength there so maybe he's been put at 5/8 for his defence and not his offence.
Anyway I for one am pleased with this move by Raper and I'm also rapt for the inclusion of Williams.

What about Seers??? he has played in the number 6. Ok he's not playing great at the moment granted but are any of them :? . I think his experiance would be a advantage. from what I saw the other week he's still fairly quick as well.
