Dan Christian is 12 man. I am reliably informed that Maxwell's first name is actually Glenn. I really couldn't think what it was when I was saying the team and the only name that came into my head was Gerard Maxwell, but I knew that was wrong

And so it came to pass that from this day, Glenn Maxwell will now to be known as Gerard

I'm not sure. The only Gerald I know is Gerald the giraffe.

If I was in the Australian cricket team I'd nickname Maxwell 86.

what about Gerald Ford?

nicknaming him 86 is unnecessary, just put that number on his back

Australia 1 Matthew Wade (wk), 2 Dave Warner, 3 Michael Clarke (capt), 4 Michael Hussey, 5 David Hussey, 6 George Bailey, 7 Glenn Maxwell, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 James Pattinson, 11 Xavier Doherty

Put in Callum Ferguson and Sunshine instead of Bailey and Maxwell and thats probably our best top 7

How are we allowed to be sponsored by VB in a place which bans public alcohol consumption and against a country that probably punishes its consumption by death?

Seems rather odd that Souths and Melbourne can't be sponsored by a casino in NZ and yet beer sponsorship is permitted in the UAE.

this is the Afghanistan team for tonight
Karim Sadiq, Javed Ahmadi, Mohammad Shahzad (keeper), Nawroz Mangal (captain), Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Asghar Stanikzai, Samiullah Shenwari, Gulbodin Naib, Dawlat Zadran, Shapoor Zadran

Seems pretty Scottish, doesn't it, Horrie?

so happy for the Afghans, dismissed Warner just as he was starting to cause damage and as he reached his 1000th ODI run

lovely achievement for him by the way

Australia are now 38/1 after 7.1
Warner made 24

Afghans were economical for the first few overs, but then Warner got a bit of strike and scored quickly

There's a shitload of ex-pat in the UAE so I think they tend to be a bit more liberal about that kind of thing that other middle eastern countries.

Not to mention other Australian based NRL teams having sponsorship by betting agencies. Let's not forget the 2009 Four Nations Australia couldn't have VB on their jerseys in France so they gave the space to the Movember Foundation

in comparison to bangladesh, the afghans landed a couple of punches last night. and theyre a bunch of semi amateurs

i would love to see them play more odis against the top icc teams

note - and reading the profiles of most the afghans, theyre based in the more modernised (or connected) Kabul- it can get very 'ancient' when one ventures out from there in that country
