Newton is still serving his suspension for the flying forman that would have doen Jimmy Snuka proud.

The USRL tried to get him despensation to play this game but I don't think the NRL allowed it.

Newton was also going to be team captain if he played.

Well done Matt, I don't really understand the players wanting appearance fees. It sounds like it would be a great way to have a vacation, have a fun playing a game of league and entertain the crowd.
Also I think it's a pity that Newton wasn't given dispentation to play, I really don't think it would have cheapened his penalty at all. Hopefully he'll get another chance to play for the US at some point.
