After being a reluctant goalkicker last season, Brett Kimmorley has told new Sharks coach Stuart Raper he wants the job. Kimmorley and winger Nathan Merritt have been practising with former Socceroos captain Graham Arnold.

This would be bad, sorry BK I just do not rate your goal kicking - back up kicker maybe. However if your going to do it - prove me wrong.

63% success rate is not good enough. That was Noddy's rate last year. Needs to be up around 80% for us to have a real big year. Look at the Warriors, that fullaback, Eadie?, had around 80% and they made the GF. They lose him, still have a good team possibly improved, but Stacey & Co kick in the 60's% and they DON'T make the GF.

Eadie? No. Ivan Cleary, he was a good kicker. I'd say he was upwards of 70%, not sure about 80%.

Yeah, Cleary. That's who I was trying to think of, Opes. Bit of a slip up there. I think I'm still shell shocked from the 70's GF's.
A good goalkicker is an essential. That's why it surprises me that Covell is not in the Tigers team this Saturday. No, Covell? No, Marshall? I think Timmy's playing games with us.
My old man used to reckon that Balmain always took to the field with a 10 point advantage - Keith Barnes. Won the comp in 69 too with another ace goalkicker, Len Killeen, contributing. Then Souths had Simms, Manly had Eadie, Parra had Cronin, Dogs had Halligan, etc, etc. It's a must if you're gonna hold up the trophy in October.

Wasn't Darryl Halligan coaching Noddy 2 seasons ago? He was kicking pretty well for a while but turned to sh*t last year without Halligan around. I say get Halligan back to coach our kickers at any cost.

I've actually heard that Arnold is an even better kicker than Halligan...but then again that doesnt take into account pressure situations etc...either way he seems a very competent teacher.

However I dont think Noddy should be our kicker

They should have a kick off at training to see who is the best goal kicker. Sullivan is probably the best but he comes off the bench. If Sullivan can get into the run on side he should kick.

Sorry Noddy, you shouldn't have the kicking job if Merrit or Bird are more accurate.

Exactly. Have a kickoff and the winner is the goalkicker. So what if Sullivan comes off the bench - when he's on, he takes the shots and when off, the second-stringer fills in.
