I assumed this thread was going to be about Maloneys TPA with Keno that Penrith had absolutely no part of organising.

With the slash and burn happening at nrlhq, the dismissal of Weeks and the shift of the finance guy to have to cover Both integrity unit financial auditing and running the nrl’s finances are we opening the door to more abuses of the cap? We know it doesn’t take much for some clubs to cheat in the past.

I would suggest nobody at NRLHQ should be auditing the clubs anyway. Every business carries out internal audits but the important audits are done by external organisations and this should be no different. Get a rusted on bunch of AFL nuts who will leave no stone unturned in trying to find offending NRL clubs. That would stop clubs doing it.

Well Vlandys opened the door letting the Roosters sign Sonny Bill.
May as well reinstate '07 and '09

NRL fans: SBW is completely washed up trash in 2020

TBH I have no idea on his form. The Nable promo has told me he has done everything in the game, so I just assume "the human headline" would come with a hefty pricetag, given the amount of the Toronto Wolfpack contract.
It's bizarre timing that he returns to a club after they lose depth on the position he is playing in and past the deadline (understandibly due to restrictions due to covid).
It just astounds me that none of the other 15 clubs had the wisdom to try and do the same.
We did something similar with Gasnier in 2010 which brought much salt from opposition supporters.

Anyway, the moral of the story, is it's not cheating if the boss says it's OK even if it's ethically questionable. Using "the good of the game" for leverage was a masterstroke.

Why does thus just feel like another way for Easts to beat the system

3 years ago we saw a 33% cap increase just in time to let them hold onto players and we saw the 2 comps in a row

Just seen Vlandys on 100% footy from Monday's show. He talks a bit about entertainment value to the game and how he can use that to try and get more money from broadcasters. I can see his logic with the SBW thing and how it may help to bring a wider audience.
If this is the case then this has a lot of potential to see teams spending more time at the top. If that is good or bad for the game, that comes down to who you support and how well that club is managed.

Perth Red fails to realise the NRL in the past has FAILED to uncover any major salary cap breaches and has only become aware of systematic chearing through whistle blowers. Millions up millions spent of finding f**k all.

Take a razor and slash the f**k out of the joint.

Surely for the good of the game the NRL could of chipped in and got Bea Arthur hair plugs???

Fully aware, NRL arent stupid, mostly. They know if they actually looked too hard then the game would be exposed. Best to have the people in place to investigate when they cant ignore. If they actually wanted to do forensic investigation of every club every year the integrity unit would be 5 times it size.
