Orford Re-Signs But Looks Else Where In 2006

In the daily telegraph this morning i read that matt orford has re-signed with the storm for $500,000 on a 1 year contract. At the end of his one year contract matt will be looking to secure a half back role at the gold coast team, or the central coast team.

In other news Brett Firman is set to sign with the storm, after matt head is set to secure the position as dragons half. Brett firman will be the half in 2006 for the storm.

This is stupid. If Matt Orford isn't going to be with the Storm in 2006 then I don't want him for 2005.

If we don't sign Firman for 2005 then we definatly won't have him in 2006.

Matt Orford is not worth 500k for one season and to me that is just a blatant waste of money.

This reeks of the old Kimmorley saga and as much as I think Orford is a good player I reckon we should dump him now and get someone who genuinely wants to be at the club.

No one player is bigger than the club.

I heard on the News today that Matt Orford will have a descion later on this week.

Either he comes down about 250k, takes a longer deal or we get Firman.

Nothing has been signed yet: Orford or Firman.

The equation is simple, if Orford leaves we chase Firman. If Orford signs, we look for forwards instead.

If Orford stays for 2005 and then leaves, we look for a new half back then.

Thats what sucks Lucas. If Orford only intends to be at the Storm untill 2006 then we should sign Firman while he is available. I can't see many decent halfs coming of contract next year, not at least with the talent Firman has.

Well in the SMH it said he was likely to resign and said he was asking for a one year contract on 425 000. Furtherdown though it said it was likely it would be for less, so maybs 400 or 350 000. I dont think the CC will get the go ahead so i think we have orford to stay.
