Yeah

And people should just accept the fact their phones are being tapped
If they want privacy they don't have to live in Australia

Athletes should accept the fact they are guilty because playing sport means you have decided you don't want human rights

I would not keep my job, pretty harsh penalty really but those are the expectations of the employer and role. If I don't like it I could get another job, same as a prof sports person can find alternative employment if they don't like the terms and conditions of their sporting employment.

And that's different.

This is a financial penalty on top of them not keeping their job.

Would you be happy to cop a fine and lose your job?

Don't forget , Coates was also the one calling for a judicial penalty if you didn't answer Asada questions.

This may only be civil penalty , but its the next step towards there being jail time.

Intact before the coalition and the greens stepped in , the government were proposing these laws.

No because its not in my terms a d conditions. No different to a coach being fined 10k for crticising refs, I wouldn't accept a fine for being critical of a colleague, different rules.

Some people don't seem to realise if you want to be an elite athlete you go to the Olympics
If you want to be a top class rugby league player you play in the NRL

There are not the employment alternatives open to the rest of us

And they should not be subject to having their private phone calls listened and other human rights abuses just because they are athletes

The issue is doping

In the overall scheme of things it doesn't matter a hell of a lot

So why subject these people to reduced rights we would not expect anyone else in the community to suffer

And why the f**k are phone taps - an expensive resource - and criminal law enforcement officers doing farging around with tapping a gymnasts phone

If there is a Boston style terrorist attack heads will need to roll because they have taken resources from hard crime to boutique crime that already has a whole government department enforcing

just because its in the terms and conditions doesn't make it right or even legal.

all terms and conditions are subject to judicial review.

I hope these are tested and thrown out.

Do asada have the power to phone tap any athlete to prove drug use? I thought it was the investigations of the acc who are looking for criminal activities that uncovered all this?

Ultimately you have to ask the question do you want a level laying field for athletes or are you happy to see some using substances to gain advantage. If you want clean sport then there is a price to pay.

Lol you really shouldn't believe everything you read on here! considering their current funding is less than $15 mill a year I very, very, very much doubt it is being increased by 1.7 bill unless that is over the next 100 years!

I see they have just announced they are going to spend $1.5 bill buying some aeroplanes, now that is a fricking disgrace when there is a $12billion hole in the budget.
