Origin Reps

Merrin has been picked in the Australian side.
One can hope that sometimes picking a player out of form in a rep team can sometimes spur them into some good form.

NZ look likely to pick Whare as well, which IMHO is even stranger than Australia picking Merrin. I mean, at least Merrin has shown some good form in the last 6 months or so. You have to go back two or three years for Whare.

Fittler had to delay naming the team by 3 hours so he could find enough players available. Its a farce and I wish we would just do a bulldogs and focus on getting something out of this f**ked season.

So we have a player with (a) clear weaknesses at fullback, but who (b) shows a number of excellent attributes as a 5/8, and who (c) actually really wants to play there, and (d) who has actually played in that position at rep level, and (e) we have a very promising option at fullback waiting to be given a shot and who we might lose if we don't in Edwards.... but (f)ucked if our coach will give the option the time of day. It's the height of ridiculousness. Griffin is an idiot.

Yep pretty much. I was ranting about this for weeks last season after we moved Bryce to the halves until I just had to stop because it was becoming to repetitive. I would add that we have two likely prospects for FB in Dallin and Edwards that both provide different attributes and skills from each other and Moylan in the FB spot. I'd like to try Dallin and give Edwards a run on the wing, Dallin supporting our forwards and running off the halves breaking tackles through the middle would be quite dangerous, he has great acceleration as well.

The only thing in your post I am not completely sure of is that Moylan wants to play in the halves, I cant see why he wouldn't but surely if he actually really wanted to he would be playing there for us.

Based on the link noforwardpass provided, it is clear to me that he does:

[regarding City-Country]: "But obviously I'm playing fullback now. Yeah I would have liked the opportunity to play at six. Who knows, it still might happen"

"When asked if envisaged making the move into the halves alongside Nathan Cleary at Penrith, Moylan said, "I don't know. You're asking the wrong person".

"You'll have to ask people at the club. Nothing has been said as of yet."

Yeah fair enough I didn't see that. Then the coach literally just sees the opposite to what numerous rugby league legends(players, former players, coaches and commentators) can see when watching Moylan play. How f**king insane is that. The same coach who banned attacking kicks, FMD. Gould himself picked Moylan as the future nsw 5/8th a couple years ago so its obviously griffin that doesn't see it.

I remember Brandy saying that Moylan wanted to play in the halves last year as well.

I'd prefer if the NRL came down on primadonnas like Des and let the City/Country coaches pick the best players available. The game is a highlight for country RL hubs and it would be a real shame to lose it. I'm glad our club made players available.
