Origin toll: Ryles out may be out for the season

Jason Ryles will be looked at again tommorrow but Dr Raftery says the best he can hope for is 2 weeks. The worst case scenario is the season.

Same for Amos Roberts who injured his same shoulder again in the reserve grade match last weekend.

Ryles came off in the Origin match and took no further after injuring his shoulder.

Shaun Timmins is in doubt for the Cowboys match. Luke Bailey seems to have pulled up ok.

as of this mroning so is rhyles - oh well trhe origin has certainly had an effect on the competition - Roosters have lost Hodges, and the sandcorp oval took care of Fitzy and Cusack and Finch...

they have to do something about the Origin - i don't know what but it certainly has an effect on teams

Ozzie, why should they change it? Just because the Roosters are affected for the first time? Canberra used to supply more than half a dozen players to the Origin games and we made do without having a whinge.
Daley, Stuart and Clyde all missed huge chunks of playing time with the Raiders because of their Origin commitments.

In the mid 90's the Raiders had Mullins, Nagas, Meninga, Daley, Stuart, Clyde, Furner, Croker and Walters playing origin and missing matches for the Raiders. Even if we had to cop a few injuries, I’d much prefer the current squad to have the same experience.

Its part of the risk. The upside is that we get experienced players. The downside is the same players become more expensive to retain.

The worst situation is losing a player for a year or longer as had happened to Timmins and now seems to have have happened to Ryles.

Having said that, it's still just part and parcel of the game.
