Very sad, found out this morning through my wife as his grandparents are her neighbour and a very close knit neighbourhood.

Rest in Peace Oscar.

He looks like a great little man in the photos. I don't know the family personally but know what they are going through. Deepest condolences.

Its always so sad to hear of little kids losing a battle with such a horrible disease. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Make sure that you tell your kids and family how much you love them everyday, for life can be too short. Such a sad time.

Eels mourn death of their bravest fan

The Eels are mourning the loss of young supporter Oscar Buhagiar who lost his battle with cancer on Monday night.

Parramatta will wear jerseys embroidered with the name of their 'bravest fan', Oscar Buhagiar, after the five-year-old lost his battle with cancer on Monday night.

The Eels are mourning the loss of their young supporter who fought a two-year battle with Neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Oscar was well-known to league fans after he took delivery of the NRL premiership trophy from Darren Lockyer and Hazem El Masri at last year's grand final.

Parramatta's players will wear the special jerseys as a tribute when they take on the Wests Tigers at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday night.

The jerseys will be auctioned after the match to raise funds for the Buhagiar family, while the club and the NRL have each donated $5,000.

The players will also wear black armbands in front of the family, who will be watching from a box donated by the Tigers.

Oscar's battle did not stop him from donning his Kellyville Bushrangers jersey and playing for his local club.

Eels forward Nathan Hindmarsh, who forged a close friendship with Oscar and his family throughout the illness, said he was deeply saddened by Oscar's death.

'He was an amazing little kid, he was always smiling,' Hindmarsh said.

'He was a cheeky little bugger who was loved by his parents.

'He fought so hard throughout his illness and his parents are so proud of him.'

This is incredibly sad news, his parents must be distraught. I'm glad the Eels are paying tribute to Oscar.

Even Fatty found it hard to on The Footy Show to tell everyone about Oscar. But kudos to the NRL and Tigers for supporting the Eels and Oscar's family.

We'll be right Friday night. We'll have 14 on the field.

Hindy was saying the poor little bugger had to leave the game early on sunday cause of the heat. Hindy also said they are wearing special jerseys on friday night with Oscars name on it. If this doesnt inspire our lads when the going gets tough, nothing will

It's a real shame the poor bugger missed out on the boys coming back to win. Feel like wearing my own armband tonight for the little fella.

Rowdy had a very good idea on the train this morning...

As a group - why don't we pool together as much money as possible (similar to the Player of the Year trophy scenario) and win one of these Auction jerseys... then donate it back to the family with our best wishes?
