Twiz, no where in that article does Simon Hill state that FIFA are still corrupt.
They might very well be, but I think Infantino is trying to rid the organization of it, and my post earlier suggests that many of those who were guilty in the past have been rid of out of the organization.

It comes down to market size now. The only way we will host the WC is in a joint bid with places like Japan and China. Corruption or no corruption, there's no really good reason for FIFA to give us the WC.

I disagree.
Sharing it around continents is a good reason.
The only good reason they will have is that our stadiums will never be up to scratch. The southern and western states and a peculiar sport is responsible for that.
There is no chance that a joint bid with China and Japan would ever come to fruition due to the travel differences.
That's a ridiculous suggestion.

Football.

I'm not talking about what I want to happen, I'm talking about FIFA's likely decision-making. I get why they have an incentive to 'share' the WC around different federations (for political reasons), but our federation and our continent are different thing. So I reckon I our best chance is in league with some major Asian nations.

There's at least 50 countries in the world that take football more seriously than we do, and they have as much claim on hosting the cup as us.

Will a lot of these 50 countries take football less seriously if they never get the world cup?

In one way I hope we never get it, cause it would put a massive dent in the other football codes.
Lets keep soccer less serious here..

Cracking first half.
Even with 10, Columbia look better than Japan.
Although, they shouldn't have got the free kick that led to their goal.
VAR in football is just as bad as the Bunker in NRL.
Nothing wrong with the technology. It's the monkeys in the box that are f**king it.
