Good one Phart

Are you saying thst I’m being negative?

I think we lost that match last night bc of our negative play in the first half. We shifted the ball around in our own 3rd and the Danes were swooping on poor possession which resulted in scoring opportunities and that first goal.

It wasnt until we jagged the penalty (which I thought was a penalty every day of the week, the twitter-verse not so much) then we started playing in the middle third and shut the Danes down. From there we had opportunities but merkins like Cruze try hard but just can’t finish.

Really the only player who looked capable was Arzani.

With the Peru game needing a result, the coach will need to pull the trigger on attack earlier. Not sure why they are not using Cahill but maybe the end to end fast game does not suit him ?

I was joking. Next you’ll comment on how few a-league players there are in squad

I know an aleague player in the squad that will never play aleague again.
Robbie Kruse?

But seriously I agree with Foster, Armani needs to nail down dominating here and then go somewhere he’s going to be a genuine starter

very impressed with the Socceroos last night, we may not set the world on fire but Marwijk has made a difference to this team imo, so much more intensity and energy shown instead of the sluggish recent efforts we've seen

it maybe the atmosphere of the WC but enjoyed the game and its so good to see us being competitive rather than just another doormat for international teams

When Cahill was picked there were plenty of pundits saying he was only picked for his off-field presence and that he was taking a spot for some youngster who also wouldn't play. Van Marwijk alluded to this himself.

So assuming France beat Denmark by a goal for arguments sake

Can we still make it to round 2 if we beat Peru?

I'm hoping France win 2-1 and we win 1-0 and we pick up a yellow card, cause then ladies and gentlemen, get out your straws

its called getting out of the group stages, and yes we can if we win 2 zip.

if its 1 zip its gets down to F&A which would be equal, then it gets down to fair play, ie: the least yellows or reds, currently neither team has any reds but Denmark have 1 more yellow than us at this stage

ok sounds tight

what if red/yellow cards are the same?

Has this ever happened in world cup history?

Where do they go from there?

I just heard on the radio that they then draw them out of a hat.
Not sure if true or not, but I believe it is.

thats right, hat draw decides, only ever happened once before but it was decide first and second, not who goes through

Here it is in more detail Twiz.

Here are the tie-break scenarios for rankings in the groups:
  • Greatest number of points
  • Goal difference in all group matches
  • Goals scored in all group matches
If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows:
  • Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned
  • Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned
  • Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned
  • Greater number of points obtained regarding fair play conduct (yellow cards = -1, indirect red card (as a result of a second yellow card) = -3, direct red card = -4, yellow card and direct red = -5, with only one of the deductions applied to a player in a single game)
  • Drawing of lots by FIFA
