lol at the outrage.
It was banter. Banter that was hated because one team who didn't expect to lose, lost.

I think that dismissing it as outrage only because SFC lost is pretty ridiculous.

Love to know why RBB fans think that the SFC coach deserves such abuse. Ricky Stuart f**ked us over massively but our fans would never do anything like that nor would our fans brush it aside as banter or a.non event.

Suity would know but hitting the club with a show cause notice says we're pissed off, but I'm not sure anything will come of it.

Its the sort of thing that will stop some parents taking their kids to the game.

It will stop families attending I agree. Do the RBB think this through or is it that they just don't care?

That banner was a massive own goal. Imagine being the owners of the WSW. gee you'd wish that they (mostly male) RBB fans would grow up.

Whatever you call it, apparently it would be an over reaction.
Well mate I think it is. Sure it was childish and in poor taste, and reflected very badly on the WSW and the A-League. But the reaction is typical of mob morality that infects society these days. Merkins should stop pretending this was an attack on anyone other than Graham Arnold. No homosexuals were killed or injured in the making of the banner. It was no more homophobic than protest banners showing John Howard performing sex acts on George W. Bush. It's about dominance and humiliation, not anyone's sexuality.

It's one of those things that is funny if you hate the target. Personally, I admire the creativity of it (it looks like the cock could slide in and out of the mouth - did they have a team of shirtless dudes gripping the scrotum as they thrust it in and out, moving sensuously as one?) but it's too juvenile and lacking nuance to be truly funny.

Pointing out other instances of cartoons or banners of poor taste does not diminish the gravity of what happened.

Mob morality as you put it is just normal people registering their objection to something that ought not have happened and should not happen again.

I agree it's wrong. I'm just pointing out the outrage over homophobia is misplaced and dishonest - just an attempt to stir up support from people who might not otherwise give a f**k.
