Theres a good vietnamese joint in Hurstville called Little Saigon or something like that... You can grab a massive bowl of beef soup for like $8, and its quality.

went to chilli blossom last night in caringbah - it was quite good

my fave is stapletons in sutherland and the indian at engadine next to maccas

but when all is said and done the shire really lacks a king street or a ligon street and the hit and miss affairs of restaurants in cronulla itself due to the high turnover of backpacker staff is a dissappointment

It was the Terrace at Cronulla (my brother was one of the chefs), but alas it closed a couple of months ago due to disputes between owner and landlord; and as far as modern dining went it destroyed more mainstream local restaurants like Sealevel and Summersalt. Read the reviews.

For Thai, Jai Dee Thai on Gymea Bay Rd (on top of the Vinyl Room) is my favourite. Best Chinese - Man Lin Wah in the Kingsway at Miranda.

Anything else from there on, I've found is hit and miss. As someone who has never particularly liked King Wan, it is probably a bit embarressing to admit that the yum cha at the Taj is probably one of the best I've been to. Why venture far from home Rexxy?

Granted you probably live around here, but the yum cha at Blakehurst or the Taj is excellent. Steer clear of the Carlton one though - recently fined for hygiene violations.

Just to labor the point on a saturday SS - you say it [terrace] destroyed mainstream restaurants such as Sealevel and Summersalt

Yet these restaurants are packed every friday / saturday - obviously off the back of their success ???

Maybe they are successful in spite of being able to manage their professional disputes...not too mention the product and service standards

ho ho engadine.

Food at HoHo ain't that bad really. Golden Pond is OK too. Windmill at Yarrawarrah, next to the Pizza League, has really nice food but they are heavy with the $$.

Rosin Court that The Dodger mentioned is one of my faves. They do a wicked Mongolian Chicken (off menu - you gotta ask for it)
