On her insistence my beautiful wife and I went to the Bon Jovi concert on Saturday night. I was sceptical, am not a big fan of theirs but they were quite good (in general I find their music a a little cheesy but I have never seen so many MILFS in one arena. :D). Jon Bon Jovi still has a great voice and apparently is still a great sort according to my wife who regained consciousness after the concert. ;-)

I did my part, now I hear Red Hot Chili Peppers are coming who I would love to see live.

Still spewing I didn't see ACDC.

So who should a X Gen see next year? Before you say anything I do not like U2. I think my uncles tried to bomb him whilst he was singing Sarajevo Girl during the Bosnian War. :D

Heard Bon Jovi last night whilst putting the garbage out.

John: You give love..
Crowd: ..a bad name.

I read that Bon Jovi had grossed over $US250m touring in 2010. Not bad for a bunch of old dudes.

went to friday's concert and it fricken rocked. was up there with eastern creek raceway in 95 (sans the 50 year storm).

as a gen x member you may want to see slash in late feb http://www.slashparadise.com/2010/10/first-2011-tour-dates-announced.html

and def leppard are supposed to be touring next year as well, though they haven't announced where yet. hopefully oz is included in there.

not too many modern day artists that can work an arena like some of those older groups.

Thanks dude. Apparently there is a good chance of Soundgarden reforming and touring like Stone Temple Pilots.

We had tickets for last night & decided not to go at the last minute - I think we made the right decision, based on the rain & wind etc etc

The feedback I had from friends, was the smaller SFS venue was better than ANZ Stadium, but, the show lacked a little, especially during the middle of the concert. Therefore, it was a bit drawn out. The big songs were excellent - but the ad ins didnt make so much sense.

I hope the aussie dollar remains high, so that we can continue to have great acts come to our shores. I just wish they were not all here & gone within 1 month or so....

As far as I am aware (and I am HAPPY to stand corrected), after checking with some of my connexions, Chili Peppers have not announced any tour of Australia. In fact, I cant see where they are touring anywhere at the moment. But, as I said, I would be happy to be corrected.

And Jon Bon Jovi gets all of that and then pays wages to all the band members etc. smart, smart man !!

A very good summary.
IMO the song choice could have been so much better. Failed to really capture the moment. As you said the big songs all rocked but the fill ins really stopped any momentum from the big classics.

My Mrs was blowing up deluxe with them not singing Always....
From memory there was only 2 songs from the Slippery When Wet Albulm which for me was not enough.

I was there last night and it was a pretty good show. Rain was annoying but nothing a cheap poncho couldn't fix. Overall a good selection of songs, some of their better non single album tracks from their earlier albums plus most of their bigger hits. A few not so better songs from the 2000s but that's too be expected. Could have done without the country stuff but you cannot please everyone. Their four song encore was outstanding. So think the setlist was pretty good overall. Band really still have it though, you could tell they were enjoying themselves out and getting into whereas a lot of bands just go through the motions. JBJ's vocals were really impressive.

Freak2 they actually played 4 songs from SWW, Raise your Hands, You give love a bad name, Wanted dead or alive, and Livin on a Prayer. Not too bad considering they were trying to mix up a song selection from 13 albums. Half their set came from their peak period from Mid 80's to early 90's, which I don't think is anything to whinge about.
