Fair enough 'spose. The Sharks hunted Bird, the Knights Wicks and Houston..Stewart has been treated like a star right along the line. But he has his day of court coming up. Should be interesting to see how it pans out.

That is the crux of the matter. Would have been interesting to see how Manly would have handled a lower grade player on similar charges.

Presumption of innocence actually isn't a part of our legal system. Law is a science. He isn't anything until the court finds him guilty or innocent, because the court is impartial to both sides (or meant to be). In a criminal case, he has to be proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. The reason for the beyond reasonable doubt is that the prosecution is viewed as having virtually limitless resources and ability to gather evidence and the chance of miscarriage of justice is greater.

Bird didn't have the charges dismissed, they were quashed because the key witness wouldn't testify against Bird. He could still be charged later if further evidence arises.

It'd be interesting to be called up for jury duty just to see if either prosecution or defence challenge jury member selection.

so stick that up ya jumper pete ...

I thought you were going to say "clacker".

Suity

tbh I reckon Pete would be more a cardigan guy than a jumper.

On Stewart, I'm not fussed he is playing.

Assuming he never got injured, if he had been stood down indefinately until the trial, and then found not guilty, he'd have been out for what, looking at a season and a half.

I agree though, there are double standards set with the other players previously mentioned.

Those standards come from the issues being managed at a club level, not and NRL level.

nah, pete doesn't like me using profanities

Thats fkn right...!!!
Use of profanities demonstrate a lack of communicable skills. So go f**k yerself..
Not as 'explainable' but gets the message across better, doesn't it...
Have you ever thought what the Pope would utter if he hit himself on the thumb with a hammer?

With all this time on his hands he's go no excuse for not having a very well prepared courtcase.... I just hope they put his missus on the stand - some of the quotes at the time of the incident attributed to her by newspaper reports are hilarious!

I hope they put the 'old feller' who was allegedly at the scene on the stand.

On second thoughts that sounds a bit gay. Forget I said that
