Progressives who thought immigration was going to make America (or anywhere else in the West) more progressive were off their heads. All that was needed was for conservative parties to accept the inevitable demographic change and these "New (Americans/Australians/Europeans)" would be lining up behind them to preserve family values.

I like her too but I'm also the type of person who likes Trump and Dutton. So I suspect Penny won't appeal to enough Australians to win an election.

I reckon an Asian would struggle to be elected, let alone an Asian woman, let alone an Asian woman who doesn't mind a bi of lickety split.

Don't know if it's in the Constitution but as far as I remember (can't remember who it applied to though) they've always had to move to the House of Reps before making a run.

No, it would just be super hard with the Opposition Leader downstairs and the PM upstairs. A decent opposition would have her in “hiding” from day one.
