Im pointing out, people in similar positions around the world are not all ex decorated generals. This guy at least has more military experience than our appointed counterpart.

I was about to mention this.
Trump can choose anyone to be his Secretary of Defence. The Australian Prime Minister has to choose someone who has been elected into Parliament. How many of those have military experience? Probably why we have a Chief of the Defence Force, who at the moment is this bloke: https://www.defence.gov.au/about/wh...ief of,appointments in Australia and overseas.

The Americans however also have the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who at the moment is this bloke: https://www.jcs.mil/Leadership/Arti...wn, Jr,Defense, and National Security Council.

We will have to wait and see who Trump appoints as his Chairman.Whoever it is will be the most senior military officer in the country, so I'm sure he will have to pick someone qualified.
