By the way, its very disappointing to see Dutton fumble, because Albo is a shell of a person and his government are fairly average. But, at least Albo isn't bat shit crazy and that will be enough for me to vote Labor for the second time in 4 years (and the second time in 29 years).
Albo's best days are behind him. But yes, he's the obvious (only?) non bat-shit crazy leader to choose from.

I hope he sees Biden's biggest mistake, and instead uses this term to properly build up and cleanly handover to an obvious successor, at the end of the second year.

Who do you see as his successor? I'm not sure there are any obvious standouts.

Yeah, it's a completely blank field from what I can see... immediate choices are probably only Angus Taylor (who's been positioning himself) or Sussan Ley (incumbent deputy) - but I don't see either of them as being able to lead a credible opposition.

Perhaps it'll be time for some generational change in the LNP? Someone younger and capable enough... I don't know how the factions and numbers etc work in that party, but David Coleman might be a roughie and grow into doing a half decent job, if he holds and his seat doesn't become marginal?

Penny Wong won't leave the Senate. Not sure who the one to take over from Albo will be... maybe Chalmers, or if we see a new female deputy (presumably not Tanya Plibersek) then we'll know what they've got in mind.

There's actually more leadership talent for the LNP in the Senate than in their House of Reps.

I think you know what we both need to do. Phantom leading ALP, Gary leading LNP. Let the worm decide the winner.

Interesting parallels for Dutts with what's happening in Canada - the "Trump effect" in action.

Canada guy was a big time banker prior to politics and was the architect of the US Treasury Bonds sell off by Japan, China, Switzerland etc and won a lot of admirers. That move alone tanked the entire tariff bullshit and exposed the US’s soft debt underbelly.

There is a perception by some that Trump’s motive is to collapse the economy so that he can refinance the US debt at a lower rate, however that concept is flawed, as Treasury Bonds are negotiated at the basis if risk.

Already the 10/15/20 year US Bond rate has crashed and now is fluctuating. Refinancing U.S. Treasury debt isn't as straightforward as refinancing a mortgage. Treasury bonds are influenced by market risk. The green back is no longer the safe haven or stable currency that it used to be.
