RTBU is reported in the media today to be ramping up industrial action from Novenber 14 - the specific details are in this notice:

Basically, they're refusing to work at all unless the government starts running the entire suburban and intercity network 24 hours a day on Thur/Fri/Sat nights.
Plus the work bans on how many kilometres a day they can travel, meaning that by Jan 1 the most a suburban driver could work in a day would be a single round trip to Penrith, or for intercity they could basically only work a single one-way trip on most lines.
I'm going to assume that without a breakthrough there is going to be a heavily reduced timetable from that date.
And also,
since when do unions get to set government policy? It's not up to them to decide they want half the fleet operating at 3am on a Sunday morning because they want their members getting paid a bucket load of shift penalties and overtime for working then.
Sydney Commuters face frustratingly slow light-rail trips as industrial action linked to a wages dispute between drivers and...
www.standard.net.au
From the article:
“Drivers will set a 10km/h speed limit on all light rail services in the city from Monday, as part of escalating industrial action, the Rail, Tram and Bus Union said on Wednesday.
The speed limit will only be lifted if the NSW government cut passenger fares to 50 cents, the union added.”
The f**king arrogance of the unions. The RTBU and the ETU are really f**king this state over with their greedy and completely unreasonable demands. 50 cent fares? Lol.
Current fare income for PT is about $1.25 billion a year. Just a quarter of the actual operating costs. Sydney transport is actually really cheap already, with a $50/week cap.
They don't give a shit how much more it costs us NSW taxpayers. Imagine cutting fares to 50 cents? How many schools and hospitals won't be built with that loss of income?
Anyone who supports these actions should have a good hard look at themselves.
