I might quit my job and take up a trade, just for the lunches

There is a trade shortage. Incentives are needed. The problem now is apprentices just aren't getting great training. Most are just getting used as cheap labor.
We are creating an industry where there is zero quality. This is dangerous.
Just importing a heap of immigrants and turning them into trades is making things worse.
I'm contracting on one job currently. I'm also to blame. I ain't teaching foreigners any of my skills. See they don't do apprenticeships. They complete TAFE in their own time and work as labor at $35-$40 an hour so don't have to get the low pay apprentices do. Then use the hours working in the industry as time allocated towards licence.
I teach them how to carry my tools and sweep my mess only. I have No interest in training them. Why so they can under cut me in future? It's one thing I was taught when I was an apprentice. Be selective who you share skills with. Certainly not someone trying to beat the system and make a quick buck

Don't vote liberal then. Time after time immigration goes up under the LNP so they can make labour cheaper in this country for their pals in corporate.

It's a good incentive. But $2,500 a year probably isn't making kids change minds. It's $50 a week. About $35 after tax.
When getting $14hr it isn't doing much
thought so...

Guess the boss maybe buying you lunch every now and then might get the numbers up

Mins shouldn’t be risking the federal election like this.

A transport minister seemingly cheating on transport… of all things.

Apalling judgment.

$4

The ALP feds need to do the business.

This is a leadership crisis.
