Time will tell who is correct....but there is a fair chance, all Trump is doing, is creating an European alliance which no longer aligns with the US and can undertake substantial military operations on their own....

Similar to how Putin's invasion of Ukraine, lead to the the expansion of NATO (Sweden/Finland joining) which was unthinkable a few years ago...

Europe can easily break away from the US, it just needs leadership to align and the willpower to do so...
