its odd because in the States liberals are lefties
There in lies the rub Twiz. The party was conservative in terms of family values but liberal in relation to progress in most of its forms. Now it’s just a cluster of right and extreme right ideology.
I voted for the Libs right up until 2022 when I changed to Labor as I believe that the party lost its moderate voices such as Frydenberg and Sharma.
you win Australia by being either just left of centre or just right of centre. You don’t win with ideologies such as the Greens who have no little or no policy, or the basket cases of hate and fear like that fat f**ker Palmer, Pauline and dare I say it, now the Libs with Trump lite shit

Very true, the right faction/s in the Libs won internal power, and took them down the path with the results we see today. No longer "liberal" by any means, the rump that's left should change their name to Conservative (to mirror their colleagues in the UK) and be done with it.

Very true also. And slow and steady as well - meaning Albo has played a good longer term strategy for the nation as well.

Always knew the Hills was like the Shire with no water.

It's not anymore.
The Hills headed towards the red on the weekend in a big way.
I've lived here for 26 years.
Never before has there been any sign of a major swing away from this blue ribbon seat. Until yesterday.
Alex Hawke had an 8% swing against his party this weekend. That's unheard of up here.
The Libs are clearly not on top of their changing demographic in this area.
They'll get what they deserve eventually.
The seat of Mitchell is no longer a white enclave, and that is and has been good for the region. It's called diversity, and our community welcomes it. And voting accordingly.

We don’t do diversity down here. Male and female and the Christian way. It’s so old school.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the guy.... stories coming out that their campaign team had their head in the clouds and Lib internal polling was leading them down a garden path, thinking they were actually going to make gains yesterday 😂.

Though if they knew they were in trouble earlier, it seems their plan would be to lean further right into their "culture wars" territory - without their dumb merkins that remain like Jacinta Price etc understanding that's exactly why so many Australians deserted them in the first place.

Don't feel for him at all, he has built a pretty decent property portfolio apparently did well in the share market as well 😉

Needs to take a few other libs with him now though one you also mentioned.

What’s wrong with Jacinta? And calling an indigenous woman a dumb merkin is terrible.

She's a nutbag with her head up her own arse. Selfish individual, deluded toxic politician.

Price will start to be rated negative in focus groups following her MAGA hat stunt, her Trump slogan comments during the campaign, and her ungraciousness when interviewed last night - blaming the result on anyone but her own party's efforts. Once she starts to trend negative in focus groups, she'll find herself on the outer like Warren Mundine has.
And calling an indigenous woman a dumb merkin is terrible.
Why, when it's well deserved? It has nothing to do with her sex/gender or her heritage... neither of those factors should be a reason for certain dumb merkins to not get called dumb merkins, like any other dumb merkin would be. #equalopportunity

Looking back, this is probably the point where it started to go wrong for the Libs - a terrible tactic that snug Jacinta Price was willingly balls deep in.... She should take as much blame as Dutton for the poor showing, and finish her days on the backbench before riding into the sunset (when her Senate seat falls due).

On January 25, four days after Trump’s inauguration, Dutton appointed Jacinta Nampijinpa Price the Coalition’s shadow minister for government efficiency, a role with an unmissable link to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) razor gang. A week later, shadow attorney-general Michaelia Cash praised Trump as “a man of action”, promising Australians “they’ll get the exact same attitude under a Peter Dutton government”.

Jacinta Nampijinpa Price, Michaelia Cash and Dutton at the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club in Perth – one of the few sightings of Price during the opposition leader’s campaign.

I saw her interviewed on the ABC after Dutton conceded. She was unapologetically arrogant in her denials that her party‘s campaign was flawed in anyway other than some tinkering around the edges. After the lady from 7.30 Report gave up on her, the indigenous lady from morning news had a turn and Price dropped tye BS facade when talking about her fist nations people. Apart from a dog whistle comment about treating them like victims, it sure sounded like she wanted her mob to have a Voice.
