He shouldn’t have been released.

A conviction doesn’t necessarily have any bearing on the following sentence or anything else except what the law says in terms of ranges.

Sometimes there’s minimum for things such as certain driving offences. But rare.

He’s back in the institution where he clearly belongs.
I'd discuss it further with you but you edit your posts after the fact and as a result, It looks like a different conversation to anyone who reads it later.

Edit: Comment removed due to cbf'd substantiating.

You also like posts where someone inserts a non genuine quote to dishonestly misrepresent someone, so there is no need to reply to me. Cheers n have a nice day.
I’m not sure what your issues are but telling me what I like is petty brazen!

I’d welcome any example you want to provide to support your allegation that I support a dishonest misrepresentation and we can go through it together. You see I can’t recall that.

Yeah, I will edit my posts as new thoughts arrive that I want to post and you’ll see me do that without reference to what anyone else has posted etc all the time. Spelling errors, suspect expressions…mistakes. So I will try to fix them to my liking.

Yeah, I’m having quite the day, detecting and trying to resolve electrical and locking issues with a friends car.

Trial and error. It’s the journey.

We shouldn’t be convicting people with mental health issues.

I'd suggest every pedo is mentally ill. You'd have to be to do anyhting like that. Plus what about self inflicted mental illness from poor life decisions? ALcohol and drug abuse for example or gambling.
Not to mention everyone suffers some sort of mental illness during life. It maybe just a mild dose of anxiety or depression .

I'm open to bringing back the death penalty also. Our laws are to soft.

I'm happy to retract the comment as not prepared to spend any more time looking.

You and my dad would have got on like a house on fire.

@the phantom menace and @Gronk would have liked him.

When he bought me a submarine toy back from Europe once, it had Soviet livery.

You would choke on your popcorn reading 'Determined' by Robert Sopolski (who I think most scientists agree with). He says we have zero free will. It is a very challenging concept but I tend to agree - mainly just to seem to myself like I am hip with the smart folk.

What are y'all merkins thoughts on the upcoming eSafety Commission's internet policy implications? I haven't done a lot of research but I know that the age identification 'process' is still in murky waters. There was a time when I had to prove that I was 18 to get into a pub. Now I may have to prove that I'm over 16 to be active on sites that I've been on for over 20 years.

Since the kids under 16 can still look at public posts on say youtube, insta, etc without needing to login/prove their age... it doesn't seem like there will be many real life implications imo.

For example, someone can look at pretty much every post on a site like this without logging in, they just can't interact unless they have a registered account. Same will go for the under 16s and the various sites on the banned list - can still read and see stuff.

The ones in that age group I know aren't worried at all - they all piled onto WhatsApp way earlier in the year, because it's not on the restricted/prove your age list.

I'm more concerned about the likes of myself who are (well) over 16 and have to prove that with some with some form of digital ID to be able to do what I take for granted now. That form of ID is a major grey area for me.

Ah, ok. I don't anticipate being asked to be honest... I think the law is that they have to show they are taking reasonable steps to not allow under 16s to remain on or sign up to their platforms.

If you've been on any platforms for more years than someone in the 12-16yo age bracket would have been, then surely those platforms would have a case that they don't need to take any actions about IDs and proof of age etc from us to comply with the law?

A very interesting intellectual problem.

I think there’s degrees of determinism, but some degree of free choice but within parameters. That election could be determined I guess.

But I’ll see what Sopolski says.

I think there’s been hard core determinists around for years, classical philosophers.

Yes. The concept really is an extension of the thought that there is no self as such as a separate entity to just the particles of dust of whatever that we are made out of.

Yeah, I’m not against it.

When meta has more power and resources than many countries and we’ve already seen these stupid word changes, cant mention words on YouTube etc.

LU mangles our written language too, but I don’t know if they have to or whether they choose to. They may have legal reasons I’m not sure. Then again, it’s free to use and the object is good intent. So that’s very nice.

These rich owners of tech, they aren’t elected and need to be regulated.

Australia leading the world in this.

I can’t see kids benefiting from seeing the ghastly beheadings by cowardly knob-ends that you can source on the internet right now.

Educationalists tell us that’s kids see the world differently than adults. There’s variations, but the mind develops.

Meta etc, they’ve wrecked the promise of the web in many ways. Do you trust them?!!

Sounds pretty awesome.

Sagan suggested at the end of the day we are all star dust.

I could have to face the realisation that I’m no more impressive than a skink who was born, lived and died back in our garden in the 1970’s. Both star dust.

I can pass on experiences to others for a short time.

I think it’s 5 billion years, the sun is going to expand and consume what’s left of us.

There’s a theory we won’t need a physical existence by then anyway. We can just be data or our descendants can be.

Mel Gibson is said to be very afraid of passing away. Keeps him up at night.

I wonder if future data will be able to feel anything?

I think we need to try to grow out of porn any way. I have done so to a certain extent. I haven't used porn in 3 months when I found out my favorite porn actress had a very bad health turn. That made me realise I was out of control and causing harm.

I otherwise hate the nanny state stuff and I think youtube for example is great for kids.

Why don't you just learn new words instead and throw them in conversations. Here are a few to get you on your way.

Bio-Hacking, Eco-Minimilism, Parasocial.

Also throw these in

Acumen, perspicacious,pungent, ambivalent,Bougie.

This could all unravel very quickly for dear leader Trump. Or even more likely very slowly, probably leading to bigger and bigger meltdowns as his psychological state detoriates even further. Needs to find a win somewhere otherwise this might be the most embarrassingly memorable term in history of politics

He’ll find a win if the media give it to him.

So we go pro Trump to anti Trump and so forth.

He’s obviously still useful for some people but not others.
