What are y'all merkins thoughts on the upcoming eSafety Commission's internet policy implications? I haven't done a lot of research but I know that the age identification 'process' is still in murky waters. There was a time when I had to prove that I was 18 to get into a pub. Now I may have to prove that I'm over 16 to be active on sites that I've been on for over 20 years.
Yeah, I’m not against it.
When meta has more power and resources than many countries and we’ve already seen these stupid word changes, cant mention words on YouTube etc.
LU mangles our written language too, but I don’t know if they have to or whether they choose to. They may have legal reasons I’m not sure. Then again, it’s free to use and the object is good intent. So that’s very nice.
These rich owners of tech, they aren’t elected and need to be regulated.
Australia leading the world in this.
I can’t see kids benefiting from seeing the ghastly beheadings by cowardly knob-ends that you can source on the internet right now.
Educationalists tell us that’s kids see the world differently than adults. There’s variations, but the mind develops.
Meta etc, they’ve wrecked the promise of the web in many ways. Do you trust them?!!
Yes. The concept really is an extension of the thought that there is no self as such as a separate entity to just the particles of dust of whatever that we are made out of.
Sounds pretty awesome.
Sagan suggested at the end of the day we are all star dust.
I could have to face the realisation that I’m no more impressive than a skink who was born, lived and died back in our garden in the 1970’s. Both star dust.
I can pass on experiences to others for a short time.
I think it’s 5 billion years, the sun is going to expand and consume what’s left of us.
There’s a theory we won’t need a physical existence by then anyway. We can just be data or our descendants can be.
Mel Gibson is said to be very afraid of passing away. Keeps him up at night.
I wonder if future data will be able to feel anything?
