DALY Cherry-Evans has reneged on his Gold Coast Titans deal and will stay with Manly after signing a “lifetime contract” with the Sea Eagles.

“As long as Daly is playing NRL football he’ll be here at (Manly),” Sea Eagles CEO Joe Kelly said in announcing the Cherry-Evans signing on Wednesday afternoon.

Queensland and Australian playmaker Cherry-Evans had up until the end of round 13 next week to change his mind about joining the Titans.
“The opportunity to stay here and be a one-club player,” said Cherry-Evans of the reason for his decision.

“In rugby league job security isn’t something many people have.

“It’s something I’ve been offered, and something I’ve been willing to take up.”

This June 13 deadline is a farce.

KS, it doesn't, just assures the deal he has, as he said will pay him through good times and bad. Its a rare deal in footy terms, and definitely plays in his favour.

Yes, I have since heard it is a minimum of 8 years, increasing with Manly's salary cap increases. I think they will come to regret that down the track.

Titans let go players and cleared roster to bring him on, they've now been left in the lurch, based on the DCE saying yes months ago!!! NRL finally has changed this crazy rule. They should also introduce a transfer window 2 weeks mid season, then 6 weeks at season end.

That's the problem. I have no issue with DCE doing what he did, but the Titans made adjustments that now are detrimental.

Totally agree with this, only exception is that DCE has a few more years in him.

It appears the new owners, and Fultons appointment have decided DCE departure would be catastrophic enough to gamble the deal at hand.

I see Manly as resilient as they have been for some 10 years, to struggle and find a need to re-build, as we did between 12-2014.

Their established stars, Lyon, Stewart, etc are getting on. Cant see them playing in September for a few years.
