Dune Rats were on the footy show???? bwahaha
I've spent a bit of time with those crazy kids through The Psychos.
They're all Dogs supporters, except their manager, he is a Sharks man.
Yes they were
Singer had a dogs jersey on.
Best ( not that I watch it often ) act they've ever had.
I think fatty genuinely liked them.
He mentioned them heaps afterwards.

They played "6 pack"
Felt like it went for about 5 minutes.
Fatty had to introduce them by mentioning the album name " the kids will know it's bullshit".

There are some pics on their Facebook page

very sad to hear about Simon, apart from his musical talent he also ran a nice record store in Pitt Street, down near Central.

Man that's sad, Hybrid Theory is a great album.

No one escapes the arms of depression, so sad that you can have it all yet feel like you have nothing at all.

I used to see the hummingbirds quite a bit.
I remember seeing them at Balmain at a sort of market on a Saturday.
I still have the love buzz album.
Which for the train spotters is named after a shocking blue song
Which was covered by Nirvana
Bloody great cover

I read he has passed away in hospital in Darwin.

I was lucky enough to go to a recording studio in Yirrkala Arnhem Land last year.
I got to hear some of his stuff through the desk plus his cousins new music that was still being mixed.

Big loss for the indigenous people up there.
He was pretty much God to them.

He was in Yothu yindi and another band called saltwater band.

Plus his own solo stuff that I'm sure most of you would be aware of.
He won arias and sold albums all over the world

What a wonderful guitarist and musician. I only ever saw him play twice, both times it was with Yothu Yindi. Once was at the very first Big Day Out and the second time was 8 months later in Broome at the inaugural Stompen Ground.
Sad loss.

Yep
Played a right hand strung guitar left handed.

Unique musician
Had a lot of health problems from very young.
Born blind on Elcho island in 71 .
No education.
Imagine the living conditions back then.
Self taught.

His story is a Hollywood movie.

I saw a story on him on tv a year or two ago and he was suffering from kidney problems.made me sit up and take notice of how bad kidney disease was and getting donors of organs etc.
Think he was in hospital at the time.
He didn't say anything.

Each to their own but no problem whatsoever being an organ donor.
If it helps save someone good stuff.I aren't going to miss them if I'm dead.

Not quite rock stars but significant losses,

Les Murray SBS soccer commentator, who also had a stint fronting a rock band in his younger days.
Sam Shepard, playright, actor, director and drummer for late 60s band The Holy Modal Rounders.

Tony Cohen - the producer, not the tattooist.

If you haven't heard of Tony Cohen you have probably liked one of the albums he has produced. The bloke was a legend in the Australian music scene.
Here is a list of his achievements:

Tony Cohen as producer or co-producer, unless otherwise indicated:[3][9]

What a list.

I saw wild pumpkins at midnight play live outside a record shop in Perth ???? In mid 1991.
It was pretty chaotic ...and that's just the band.
Probably saw them in Melb on second thoughts
90 ??

One Tony Cohen credit BBB omitted was that he also engineered the wild and wonderful and very psychedelic "Stranger Tractor" album by early 90s Sydney band Swordfish, which was produced by Ollie Olsen. His imprint was most definitely on that album and the band members acknowledged his contribution.

I used to see them regularly back in the day.

I c&p'd wiki, Tom. Maybe put it in there?
Swordfish eh?
Keyboardist from them, Pete Batt, recorded and played with us a fair bit in The Lowdorados. I'm still in touch with him.
