I came accross this debut release from Charlotte Hatherly, she may be better known to some rock fans as the female guitarist from ASH who are touring here next month.

Anyway, it's not bad at all and available as a free download from her website http://www.charlottehatherley.com/

go have a listen as I think this chick may be the next big solo act out of the UK, think Bjork, Kim Wilde, pat benatar maybe.

June 7 sees Charlotte's solo release....the gritty-but-instantaneous first single, 'Kim Wilde' is available as a free download from this site, and offers listeners a taste of what's to come from her long-awaited long-player, 'Grey Will Fade', set for a summer release.

NME have compared Charlotte's vocal style to that of icelandic sprite, Bjork, and reinforced the view shared by many that she is the last real female brit-rocker to fly the flag for style, strength and stamina, even outlasting music's other legendary rock-trooper, Cerys Matthews.

Thanks Beeks, you've just reminded me to look for Shining Light by Ash. Wicked song that.

I'll check out Charlotte as well

Shining Light is a cracker, but there new CD, MELTDOWN shits all over all of their previous stuff in my opinion, and I am a BIG fan of much of their previous stuff !

Songs like ORPHEUS, EVIL EYE, and CLONES are deadset awesome, they got 4/5 stars in MOJO and it's been hailed as a landmark release for the band.

They are here at the Metro on July 29th I think and also playing at splendor in the grass, one of the best live bands in the world, at least that's what Dave Grohl said after he the V2003 festival last year, and I agree with him, ASh are up there with the Foo Fighters themselves as one of the best live acts around.

Yeah I saw both of those bands at the Reading Festival a couple of years ago (pretty sure it was the same night, but memory is, understandably, a little hazy on that one....)

Ash were great. The Foo I thought were good, but not outstanding. It was just before they released their last album.

Then I saw the Foo at Wembley Arena a couple of months later, and they absolutely blew me away.
What a band!!

Even?? wow i thought they quit years ago...Top Band

Today’s Tele page 12 of the Sydney live liftout is a cd review for Evens new cd called “Free Kicks” they give it 4 stars with a “ Even should end up superstars “ parting comment.
I got the cd at the gig along with “the Smallgoods “ cd as well . They are an awesome Aussie rock/pop band. Ashley Naylor has a great voice that reminds me a bit of John Lennon and Wally the bass player does perfect harmonies. It was a great gig …..As for them quitting your not far wrong …they sort of go into hiatus a bit. I am a bit of an acquaintance with Mat the drummer and he is doing a dip Ed and has kind of let reality set in and realises that they won’t be the next “Jet” or “ The Vines” when in fact they shit all over both of those bands. Along with You Am I they are the most underrated band in Australia, and it’s a f**king crime against humanity that puppets like Shannon Noll come along sing a cover and get recognised from some crap TV show.

Actually, I think You Am I are overrated. They've got some great songs, but some decidedly average ones too. Each to their own I guess.

YOu am I are a great band, their "sin" in my view is they are just too prolific. Way to many releases and tracks with a decidely average flavour ( dont get me wrong, average I say for ROgers and Co, most bands would be happy with You AM Is of casts ! ), yet had they contained their best from each album into 3 or 4 releases over the years, they would have been one of the worlds best known bands without question.
