Ok Ok Ok now things are getting out of hand here. Somewhere along the line some people have missed the whole point to "You Am I" .
*First of all coming from a musicians point of view they are miles ahead of most of Aussie bands I've ever seen.With the exception of Angus Young and that bloke from the Living End , Tim Rogers has got to be up there with the best guitarists getting around. Although he doesnt play lead these days he still writes the tunes which structurally are quite advanced. When was the last time you saw Joe Blow sit down and play a You Am I song on the guitar?
Powderfinger get a lot of awards etc etc etc but will be the first to admit what they do is basic stuff.
*Second is the AUSSIE ROCK ETHIC thing that You Am I live and die by , they have been going since the early 90s and have seen bands come and go and bands who they gave a leg up in a support band situation get famous. All they have ever done is give the punters what they want , loud rock n roll. I can see how people dont like their music because its not for everyone but in saying that either is 50 cent or ( cough - vomit ) Blink 182 .
All I can offer is my copy of Hi Fi Way , a six pack for the way home and scratch only they can itch on a lazy Saturday arvo and then everything will be alright.
Long live You Am I , the greatest rock n roll band in the land.
