Jess Fox is a Marvel.

We can thank Sydney 2000 for having her become an Aussie.

Her parents wouldn't have moved to Penrith otherwise.

Exciting sport.

Yeah dunno about that. Sometimes I reckon…

As the climber moves up the rock face, the belayer takes in slack through a belay device that can lock off the rope in case of a fall. The belayer keeps the rope loose so that the climber receives no physical assistance, but benefits from the psychological reassurance of a “catch” should he lose his grip.

Steven van de Velde is a Dutch beach volleyball player who, in August 2014 at the age of 19, raped a 12-year-old girl in Milton Keynes, England. He met her on Facebook and traveled from Amsterdam to her home, where he gave her alcohol and raped her multiple times, both at her home and near Furzton Lake .

Van de Velde was arrested in January 2016 after being extradited to the UK. In March 2016, he pleaded guilty to three counts of rape and was sentenced to four years in prison by Aylesbury Crown Court. He was also placed on the UK’s Violent and Sex Offender Register for life . However, he was released after serving only one year of his sentence and returned to the Netherlands .

Despite his criminal record, van de Velde resumed his volleyball career. The Dutch Volleyball Association allowed him to continue competing, and he has participated in international tournaments since 2018. He has qualified to represent the Netherlands in beach volleyball at the 2024 Paris Olympics .

Van de Velde’s early release and return to competitive sports have been met with significant criticism. The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) condemned his lack of remorse and his statements minimizing the severity of his crimes .

A couple of days away.

With the footy season down the toilet at least the next 2 weeks might be a good distraction with the Olympics on.

Hopefully some Aussies can get some gold medals.

I think the bigger story will be Paris in itself.

Been there once in 2019 and wasn't a fan tbh. Just didn't like the vibe & found the place pretty dirty.

Obivously with the world media there a lot more incidents are going to be reported but it won't surprise me one bit.

I love Paris.

Having said that, I wouldn’t be keen on doing a marathon swim in their Yarra.

It reminds me of the jewish games in Israel where a bridge collapsed. Not because of the bridge, but the toxic river water that killed people. A handful of Aussies IIRC.
